All sites are currently running a full manual update, so the queue will take a while to empty out (provided it isn't stuck, that is).Keffria wrote:everything from http://feyenne.keenspace.com/d/20030711.html to http://feyenne.keenspace.com/d/20050425.html is gone... Okay, Kisai...
I was doing some editing of my account. I found an 01.html file in my /d file, which I assumed was due to my accidently loading an image file into my /comics folder for an update.
Later, in the evening, I found my archives had vanished.
When I loaded the files back into the /workplace/comics folder, and did a Full Update, the problem went away, and has not returned.
I noticed that Burgundy Comics, Inc. is almost missing its archives, and from what I understand, CJ left for the weekend and very likely has done no editing or the like to her strip.

*breathes a sigh of relief* It does appear to be going down.Cope wrote:All sites are currently running a full manual update, so the queue will take a while to empty out (provided it isn't stuck, that is).Keffria wrote:everything from http://feyenne.keenspace.com/d/20030711.html to http://feyenne.keenspace.com/d/20050425.html is gone... (The last few times I've had to make major changes and really needed a manual update, the queue was all backed up for no apparent reason.)

Ditto with me, I hadn't touched my archives in weeks, if not a month or more. The only thing I'd been doing with my site was posting on its tagboard occassionally. I hadn't run any kind of update for some time. Running a full update didn't fix the problem so I moved the comics without /d pages into the /workspace/comics folder (since it would be quicker than uploading them from my computer), ran a full update and the archives came right back.War wrote:I hadn't touched my archives in nigh on 4 months.Kisai wrote:Did the archives disappear without you doing anything?
Did they disappear after you ran a manual update?
Did they disappear after you fan a full update?
Did they come back after you ran a full update?
I hadn't touched siteadmin in nigh on 4 months.
No.
No.
I ran a full update, gave it plenty of time, nothing happened. So I did what Merc suggested and moved my comics back to workspace and ran a full update again. This time I got all the comic pages back.
Just to confirm, the archives disappearing were the first reason for me to do anything with the archives in months seeing as I haven't been updating. They just disappeared.
um... I still dont have any archives...
practically 4 years worth of comics... gone!
what exactly happened? Is it possible to retrieve even a small portion of them back?
I really dont want to go back and re-make all of the archives manually... especially since I didnt save any of the rants... * sigh *
I hope this is just a glitch and is fixed soon.
This is my site, None of my archives work. The entire /d folder is gone. Nothing left...

I do my stuff by hand, I use ftp to accsess my site and change the html manually for each update.

upload a text file with the same date as the comic with the rant data. The "full update" system first step is to delete /d/ like it was supposed to.
The system periodicly does a full update anyways, so it would have destroyed any manually updated /d files , even prior to thursday.
As stated... you should not be manipulating stuff in public_html, as autokeen WILL overwrite it with whatever was in workspace.
An alternative for rants is to iframe a separate page or livejournal/blogger.

Actually, an alternative that I use is to post update html files. For instance, today's reviews would be up as 20050528a.html (or b, or c depending on which one). I'm pretty certain you can post one as an html file and another as a gif or jpeg file.
The html documents don't even need to be full html docs. Instead, all they need are <p> and </p> to open and close the text documentation. You don't need <head> </head> or anything of that ilk for it to function properly.

My archives are fine now... but it looks like some comics are still having problems. The archives for Roughies are still missing before 4/28, and some inactive comics like Random Axe of Kindness, Squaresville and Rugg are still missing most of their archives except for their last few strips.

I'm one of those that got missed.
And I'm not sure what to do, since the problem is supposed to have been fixed...
My archive page (big calendar) is fine, as are all my archives from April 28th onward. My first comic is also OK. Everything else is 404... I'm not even getting my webpage template, or even a little "Hi this is Keenspace, and we can't find this comic" page. Nothin', baby.
My comic is active... in fact, Autokeen updated me just yesterday. I havn't touched the archives page in about a month... (I don't hit my own comic often, in fact, so I don't mess up the logs.)
I logged onto the FTP, and noted that all the archives that are fine are in the D folder. Those are also the only ones in the D folder. All my comics are still in the comics folder... I'm talking about folders in the public space. And yes, I was very good and didn't do anything but look.
Should I move them myself, or... what?
Please 'relp? And thanks so much for 'relping!

Try running a Full Update for your comic. It could be your comic was missed by it for some reason. Kisai says that should handle the problem, though I'm still unclear as to the underlying cause.

Same here. I haven't touched my site, even to upload new comics, in well over a week. All pages from April 27, 2005 and before are gone.lloyd wrote:I'm one of those that got missed.

Should I go to Site admin to do a full update or is one already in progress for all Keen comics?
