Avatars Archives.

Post by YarpsDat »

I noticed many people have great avatars, and some people change their avatars like crazy, and some have great avatars they change like crazy.

So I thought it would be cool if everybody posted their avatar collections.
And I also went to make a collection of my sigs:

1.The Sparkling Eye avatar (use the link if the image doesn't show)
Image
I made it before I even posted in GD, I really wanted something good, so i spend 2 days on it.
I was using no sig at that time.

1.5. A couple of months later, when I realized people don't know about the "www" button, I upgraded my sig to have a banner of my comic:
Image

And for a long time I was going not to change anything.

2.But the last christmass I used this:
Image
It induced a nice comment, and I allowed to include it in my sig:
sig wrote: And you all best listen to the man with the glowing eyes, fo'! Yarps is mighty!
3.Of course, nobody can forget the excellent battle royalle pic by mr.Bob.
Everyone that got killed used parts of it as their avatars, but I have a rule against that, su I had to make my own. And also, I wasn't dead.
Image

4.Then there was the underwear on the head trend... I skipped that one, and reverted to the sparkling eye.

5.Then came the gender-confusing avatars trend:

Image
.
^_^

Meanwhile I was experimenting with my sig.
When I was made a mod, I used this:
YarpsDat: I hope to use my moderating powers for good, not for awesome.

Image
Later I removed my banner and went with this
Did you know that if you enter your website url in your forum profile, it will display a "www" button with a link to it under each of your posts?
BTW, general discussion is meant for discussion.
Chatroom is meant for chatting.
unfortunately, there were still people that didn't know about the www button, and I was still getting refferals from forums.keenspace.com/viewprofile.php , and I don't like these.

Finally I devised the ultimate way to avoid them: I removed the url from the profile and used this sig:
my Website, my "YarpsDat talks to himself" forum
Now playing:Go
BTW, General Discussion is meant for discussion, Keenspace Chatroom is meant for chatting!
----
BTW, these are my sigs from other forums
Iou ahr ey dough!
What is belief, if not the doubt if the obvious is possible?
I bought a pencil.
I don't know why I did that.
I paid 30 cents.
All use the sparkling eye as the avatar.
----
And finally:

Currently, I'm using this sig:
I'm the Leader of CareBears(tm) Invasion project
Apart from that I have a forum, where I talk with mcDuffies and myself, and a webcomic I don't update. And currently I'm obsessed with Go
And as a General Discussion's moderator, I reccomend the Keenspace Chatroom for all your chatting needs.
And the sparkling eye as the avatar,

but I'm about to switch to this:

Image
my all new "go" avatar.
.
(if you don't get the joke... the shape the black stones form in the picture is called "eye" ^_~)
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

I'd love to give you a list, but the one I'm using is the only one I've ever used. Saves people the trouble of reading my name over and over again.

Okay, lets see what I can find here...
Okay, some of these were also used on other forums, but not this one! So if you've never seen them before, uh, today is your lucky day! :D

[Edit:] Okay, I think this is the complete list now.

By the way, if anyone's been wondering who that is in my current avatar, that is the 40-foot tall gold-plated statue of Turkmenbashi, President-for-life of Turkmenistan, which rotates so that it is perpetualy facing the sun.

I'd have to dig them up and actually upload them. But I felt it was appropriate to post, since I just changed mine again. New style! Nyo! :D

You're missing the BW made of processed pictures of yourself.
And I'm not sure but I think you had an not blurred picture at some point.
(I might be mistaking it with the 3rd one though..., but I think it had more blue/green... erm)

Damn, this'll take a while. Lessee....

Image Image Image

These three were made before I had developed the RLC character, but the one in the middle soon became the RLC prototype...

Image Image Image

This was my first avatar to show the "finished" Davidson character, and was the base for the underwear fad (middle). The idea for the one on the right was suggested by Orion.

Image

This avatar is from Mr. Bob's "Waiting for War," which ended Battle Royale 3.

Image

The av I used for the opposite gender fad.

Image Image Image

These avatars came from what was supposed to be my fight with Nantuko (I swear I'll do something about that someday); the Russian hat is the by-product of a long-standing joke between the two of us (a story for another day, I'm afraid). The one on the right is the result of this thread.

Image Image Image Image

These avatars came from my RCL vs RLC picture; the result of mutiple name typos. The second one from the left was used in the ninja/pirate avatar trend.

Image

Another avatar I used during the ninja/pirate trend, this one came from the "Yourself as a Daemon" thread.

Image

The avatar I used last Easter.

Image

Talon_Leuco decided that RLC stood for "Rather Large Chicken" and spawned the idea for this avatar.

Image

The cicada avatar I used when the 17-year cicadas started coming out here in Maryland. It coincidentally coincided (if that's a redundancy, bite me) with the "disturbing avatars" trend.

Image

I think this was the result of the opposite gender av trend, but I'm not sure.

Image

This is one of Treize Fennin, from my comic. I can't find my Tycho av, though....

Image Image Image Image

Other random avatars I've used over the five months I've been here. I'm not even going to try and do my signatures.

I just happened to have a full gallery I made some time ago. Most of it is there:
Image

Let me see if I can dig up all avas from then:
Image Image Image Image

* * *

It's been a while since I made a collection of avatars based on imitating popular painter's art styles. It just came to my mind that apart from several that Bob, Devo-bot and Brockway guessed, I never actually named which artists were those. So you can still try and guess:

Let's see...I can pick out Vincent Van Gogh, Keith Haring, Piet Mondrian, Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro...the rest are tough.

These are for a chap named Ganthorian who hangs out at the College Roomies From Hell board. He's a superhero fan.

Image Image Image Image Image

In return, he took this...

....and added my hat from a photo.

Image

Which I later tidied up and cartooned.

Oh, yeah, I totally forgot it when we were mentioning cool avatars, but "crazy" avatar of yours wes maybe the coolest thing used as ava around here.
Let's see...I can pick out Vincent Van Gogh, Keith Haring, Piet Mondrian, Roy Lichtenstein, Jackson Pollock, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro...the rest are tough.
They're all there. Sadly, the same who were guessed the first time.

So...the rest are either super-obscure artists or very poor impressions. :P

The Christmas one...

And, of course, the opposite gender fad... One which we had to get in on...

There are so many that I have deleted!

The visual forum history of FireBird:

Image

I probaly could've made that smaller, but it's a year of my life, people!
Lot's of blank spaces, too.
My life seems to be very unfufilled.

"...Me life flashed flashed before me eyes!!
...It was very boring."
-Chicken Run

The only previous sigs I remember were:

1. Failure is not an option.
It comes standard with your Apple product.

2. You do not have a War to obtain Peace,
You have a War to obtain Victory.
And only after Victory is Obtained,
Can Peace be achieved.

And:

3. Without War, there is no Peace.
And with War, Peace does not exist either.
You must only realize the truth:
There is no Peace.
