What's YOUR funniest comic review?

Post by Soap Soaperson »

Checking my referrals, I saw this in someone's blog:
How long has it been since I made a webcomic recommendation? Long enough? Damn straight.

This here Deity Permithas pirates and panties. Although it's going to a [sic] brief quality hiccup, the blowjob posturing on the current page was enough to entertain this fanboy.

(The resemble of the main character, both the subject of the panty shots and the one in the fellating pose, to one Asuka Langley is entirely coincidental and certainly didn't influence my opinion. Really.)
I laughed a bunch reading this. :D Maybe I missed something, but I don't remember intending any pose to be "fellating." Yes, there were about two shameless panty shots, but I've conveniently covered most of those that occur in most panels. It was more of a slam on hospital gowns - why the hell do they gotta be so DRAFTY!?

O_o Anyway, does anyone else have any particularly interesting reviews of their comics?

It never occured to me before but if you forget that shes standing on his chest, and have a disturbed sex-obsessed mind you could say that the second "panel" resembles a fellatious pose.

you're a damn hentai artist Soap.

Here.

"In other news, I posted the rant for Wednesday's Online Comics Day comic on Thursday, so if you missed it, check it out, and check out some of the other participants. Who knows? You might find a few new regular reads.

I myself found a few. One of them is Fallen Angels Used Books, a marvelously drawn well written fantasy drama, and another is Alex & Ilia, a science fiction comedy about a human married to a cute cat-like alien lizard woman. Admittedly, the latter web comic is less recommendable than the former, but it is funny, and I like the fact that the artist actually knows how to draw spiky manga hair. True, it's ugly, but at least it looks like the ugly thing it was supposed to look like. Compare to Fragile Gravity, where Gregg, the male protagonist, has hair that only looks right from one angle, if that, and lines on his cheeks which I suppose are dimples, but look like scars (many other characters also share his hair problems). Don't get me wrong, I like Fragile Gravity, but I think it would look better if the artist didn't try to copy the look anime and manga. Still It's better than this comic, where the female characters hair appears to be a cardboard cutout, and apparently the artist "Three years ago, in 2000 ... discovered the beloved art of Japanese anime."

Anyhow, back to justifying my recommendation of Alex & Ilia (which admittedly the art-bashing of the other comics was a part of), there's also the fact that, for some reason, this flash animation brings me to tears every time I watch it. I'm not sure if it's just that I'm a very lonely guy, but if I can pan a Disney film because it didn't make me cry, I can recommend a web comic because it did."

I made someone cry! Wooo!

intrepid mouse: I know it's not, sublunary was the yaoi comic I was talking about, and Loxie and Zoot is stupid. it's certainly not a fraction as good as ROMB
well, none of those are reviews... but i found them funny anyway. and soap, i think the no pictures comment might relate to a weird thing that i've noticed on my work PC but not my home Mac with some keenspace sites... get no pics or background color. don't think i've noticed it on yours though, will check at work.

OMG LOL XD

funny reviews? Hmm... one time some guy mailed me a manual how to use photoshop to add text. Of course it was a subtle way of telling me my handwriting sucks, but I was just experimenting with it for a couple of pages, and I had been adding text with computer years before that!
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

That was, in fact, an actual review given to me on that page. Scroll down, it was one of the recent ones.

Bah, I say. EOI isn't just for chat RPers, you just have to understand the that people do that, and remember what kind of people haunt the internet and you get it just fine.

But you get an extra little dose of chuckles if you actually HAVE RPed in chat rooms before! Like...it was such a small thing, but Lady Sunset Autumn Honey Purity Sunflower Rainbow proudly proclaimed "I"M IN TEH RAFTERS!" or something several months back, and I laughed more at that than the punch line.

I've never RPed in a chat room, but I've found that I get a good bit out of EOI just relating to my experiences playing traditional RPGs. We even get the occaisional "HANGIGN FROM TEH RAFTORS!!1" kind of player from time to time. :P
