Graphic Smash Series Submissions?
It never rains but it pours. First GAM, now GS.
According to GS's latest editorial, T is looking for more series for Graphic Smash!. See editorial for submission guidelines.
I know most of you probably wouldn't want your current comics to go pay, but you ever had a fancy to start a second comic, now's your chance!
Keep in mind there's probably going to be a bit of a competition over the spots, but hey... couldn't hurt to try. The worst that could happen is that they say no, right?
So, erm... any of you wanna join me and Psiogen over GS?
ps: Boy, looking over the submission requirements, am I glad I didn't have to go through those.

You could always start a new series on Gaphic Smash, or a spinoff or something.Evil Jamie! wrote:I'd submit J&N, but I'm not fond of the idea of the archives not being free.
That's probably the best possible business model, actually...keep a free series running to attract new readers, but have a pay series to dangle in front of your fans. Of course, you have to have the time to do two comics...
I've been thinking about trying to get a free series going again alongside Ascent for that purpose.

Oh, man that makes me drool
...actually...having...my...existance...confirmed...by...being...paid...
Well, not by being paid but by having someone tell me my idea is high quality enough to be worth pay. And I would REALLY like somebody to tell me the day-to-day quality of the work, the way an editor tells an author about their book (Iwantaneditoriwantaneditoriwantaneditor)
I'd love to. LOOOVEEEE to.
But...darn it, I don't think I would qualify! Just not frigging good enough.
Sad. Sadsadsad.
Oh, well. At least someone else can be happy. And get paid.
(and get an editor.)

That is not your decision to make. It's Campbell's.christwriter wrote:But...darn it, I don't think I would qualify! Just not frigging good enough.
You ever heard the saying "Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right"? Probably not since I just made it up but it's still true. I could spend three or four paragraphs describing the psychology of the situation - the creative sub-conscious, positive and negative wizards, the power of self-talk and all that rubbish - but I can't be bothered right now.
Just send it.
Try.

I'll never join you!
though... ruling the galaxy together does sound neat...
what? You say it's not about ruling the galaxy together? oh.
Still, finally getting money for drawing does sound neat. Almost makes me feel like I didn't waste the last 3 years... But I'll never join you!! At least not with my current comic, I'll keep the current archives available for free for as long as I can.
BUT Maybe one day I'll start another one just for this purpose. (or for print if they reject me... BTW, what's the arrangement with GS and printing? Can you distribute through GS, and print at the same time? Do they offer you printing the collection, or allow you to print it yourself, or just disallow it?)

You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."
"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

They only hold the exclusive rights to display your stuff online and partial (but not exclusive) rights to use your images for advertising.YarpsDat wrote:BTW, what's the arrangement with GS and printing? You are free to print, sell comics on CDs, sell movie rights and all that.
EDIT: Oh, once your contract ends, you can put your comic up on the web again too.
You can print your comics whenever and however you want. GS asks only for exclusive online distribution rights.YarpsDat wrote:BTW, what's the arrangement with GS and printing? Well, unless anyone screams at me, I'm going to try it.
Might be fun.
