"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

It's a triple-negative.
I should take my hand out of the furnace now or not? Or not not take it out?

That realy, really bites. Especially when you spend a year working on artwork, find out about the site and go...three days after join-up is shut down.Cloakable wrote:O.K People my checklist is nearly done!:

The Keenspace joining facility is down!
Does anyone know of another webcomic site that offers free hosting?
Yarps, I still think there ought to be SOME kind of way to have people who DON'T want thier account give it to someone who DOES. Especially now that join-up is down. You know, like the great Keenspace Account Exchange or something.

There was a lady who won the Illinois lottery several years ago. She wanted to be prepared so she didn't immediately run to cash the ticket. Instead she contacted accountants, lawyers, friends, family, etcetera. She prepped her home for sale, she rewrote her will, and so on.christwriter wrote:That realy, really bites. The day the ticket was due to be turned in, she drove to the lottery, but blew a tire. When she got that fixed, she was caught in traffic. By the time she got to the place to turn in the lottery, the doors were locked.
She did not get to claim her winnings; by law her ticket had expired and the money went to the state.
The moral? Don't forget the last step until the last minute.

Well...
Not exactly what I did...
I spend a year teaching myself how to draw because I was going to spend the money on a server and create my own website. It never occored to me that there were free webhosts out there.
A friend corrected me and I came here and I sware i almost wigged out. Better than christmas...all I had to do was learn HTML and draw. I'd have a free space!!!
And then I clicked join...
And it wasn't working.
I knew about the site for two whole lovely, enerjetic days.
My brain needs an overhaul.

Just be patient, man.
Keep drawing your comics, build you website, and when signups are ready again, you'll be ready to start right away.
I seriously don't understand you guys's rush to start your comics, really. Some people here waited six months to get an account, and part of the problem KS is having now is due to the number of accounts with none or few comics on them.

There's a lot of ways you can fix your site after all:
1. Find a local host. You'll have to pay for it but if you place an add from google (or somewhere, I'm not sure of procedure) you'll cover at least part of expenses. But you won't get automatic update so you'll have to do it manually or tamper with AutoKeenLite.
2. Set site on one of free servers. It'll come with a load of popup-adds, though, so ask people to reccomend you better ones. Same for autoupdating as under 1.
3. DrunkDuck. It seems like they're good alternative.

... considering I got started on KS closing in on two years ago, thinking "Hey! I like drawing comics! And this site is free!" ... well, I've done a lot of growing since then. Especially art-wise (although I still have a LONG way to go with that). Just keep scribbling away, draw what you see, and eventually things'll start falling into place.

Well...I have to say that it IS a red flag, so to speak, to jump for an account before you have a good idea of characters, story direction or even a NAME. It also makes someone getting the account feel that it's gonna be over in a month...or two...and they gotta-gotta-gotta get going NOW because soon it's gonna go away...
And then they stop three pages into it and they realize...this isn't gonna go away. They're in it for a couple of years, if not longer...and most of them aren't willing to give up that kind of time...even though they don't have anything better to do.
But there's also a screaming drive to create something before it goes away completely. You see something that creates an idea, and the idea rolls around in your head for so long that you either have to get it out or go crazy. And you want somplace to put it so it doesn't get messed up, and you want someone to look at it and go "Wow...that's nice" so you know it was a good idea not to go crazy after all.

Yeah it would be great.christwriter wrote: Yarps, I still think there ought to be SOME kind of way to have people who DON'T want thier account give it to someone who DOES. Especially now that join-up is down. You know, like the great Keenspace Account Exchange or something.
I got my account from a guy that stopped after the first page. (that was breaking the 4th wall, BTW)
But the problem with such a system is:
It would be needed when keenspace is having problems, and if it was automatic, it would be likely to suffer from the problems likewise.
If it wasn't automatic, or at least separated from keenspace- like "exchange list", it would require the people wiling to resign from they accounts to actually go and look for it.
It's rare to find someone think "I'm too lazy to work on my comics... oh I know, I'll look for someone who want's to take it."
