Dunk the RedWolf! (Obligary Furry Admin Criticism thread)
Comments, criticism, flames, etc. All of it directed to me. Let's keep it here and I promise to spare your life....
...not really. But I'm not going to ban you if you post here. Of course, if you post in another thread about how badly I'm admining the boards I won't ban you anyway, but I SHALL FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION! (Extra brownie points to those who get the reference, and the chocolate is canine safe)

Um...I haven't paid a lick of attention to you. No offense.
But that means I have no complaints or criticism! ^^

Honestly, I don't think you're admining the boards as badly as you think you are. Obviously, nuking the Naked thread didn't help your image much. As for banning people, I'd say they all deserved it. As for everything else, I think anyone in your place would've made the same decisions. Um...furries=
And you never thanked McDuffies and me for making you fan art!

I think you're a little too strict on some things, but over all not bad. I was impressed with how quickly that annoying guy (the one doing the RP crap) was dealt with.
As for furries... well, do you really want to hear my opinion about you drawing adult themed furry art, with particular interest in extra body parts?

Re: Dunk the RedWolf! (Obligary Furry Admin Criticism thread
My main gripe with STrRedWolf is lack of communication. I know communicating and presenting arguments and justifying actions is time consuming, but please, if you can't do it, you shouldn't expect to admin without resistence. People want to know and people want good reasons, if you can't justify doing something, why do it? So far, I haven't seen any good reasons for the few actions I remember... breaking up the forum (something I rallied against) was a good move though.
Also, the RP guy (Treeko) should not have been banned (has he been banned?). He was on topic and had applicable things to say. Being eccentric is no reason for a ban, heck, I too was eccentric when I first started posting. He didn't even get a chance.
And since this is a flame thread:
YOU OFFEND GREATLY.

Hey, dude! You have guts asking for us to dunk you, so thumbs-up for that. 8) I haven't been at Keenspace as long as the others who've already posted, but think the forums are running all right. Just don't be so quick with the mallet. And try putting up some normal, non-mallet-waving posts every once in a while. When I see your avatar, it usually means bad news for somebody. You have a webcomic, too, so that means you can participate in discussions with the rest of us as an equal.

At first, you came in out of nowhere and exerted your admin benefits when the actions were resolved earlier.
Then, there was the XXX thing, which came to a compromise.
Now, it's like you've become a regular. We've had a few trolls, but you've shown the skills of a good admin with compromise, yet if they didn't get the hint, you showed them the business end of your mallet.
So, I'd just like to say, thank you, Kelly.

Only acting on complaints: Actually, that's what I'm doing now. Sometimes, a Mod needs help or detects something wrong, and I'll take a look. Sometimes someone IM's me. Sometimes, abuse@ gets a hit. Sometimes Gav or Chris is yelling at me. Alot of times, folks are asking for a thread removal (which is the last thing I really want to do in normal circumstances) and it turns out it just needs a more guiding hand.
Treeko is something I was asked about on a complaint. I took a look, and he set off my "troll" alarm. I mean, I've been on this forum when it ran on UBB instead of PHPBB, and I know this isn't generally an roleplay forum. I also have four characters on a roleplay forum, Master Zen Dao Meow, and got one "carded" (aka recognized by the owners and admins). I know the difference (even if it's in shades of grey). The warning shot was all I needed to do. The person hasn't been banned (although I did remove the avatar image -- copy my artwork?!? I should LART his ISP...).
Other than that, I really should wax my wooden mallet. It's kinda getting dusty. I am taking up your suggestion, McDuffies, but nothing has come up to need me to impliment it. Rest assured, if something goes horribly wrong, I'll look for you on IRC, yank you into a private channel, and give you the details.

No! Don't kill Off Topic Junk! That forum rocks!Psiogen wrote:I don't think you're doing too bad as an admin. All I would ask is that you put Off Topic Junk out of its misery. It serves only to make it harder to keep up with the forums. Can't we just move the currently active threads into General Discussion and then lock the place up?
Although, I would suggest a name change from "junk" to something less negative. Perhaps "Off Topic Discussion"?

I never really thought that the junk part was negative. It seemed kind of whimsical to me. But that's just me I guess. If it were to be changed, it could be called "Stuff"TOXIC AVENGER! wrote:No! I haven't really been around recently, so my comments may as well be out-of-date... anyways.
I agree with War
My biggest complaint would be that I just can't understand what you're doing. You appear out of the blue, do something, and I just can't figure out what for, why, ect. There seems to be no logic behind your actions. It even lead me to suspect you may be either crazy or a saboteur of some kind.
Some of the things I don't understand. I may have forgotten about a thing or two:
the locking of old threads, diging out a conflict months after it has been resolved and the whole vile banning-unbanning thing
splitting the forums, autopruning. (Okay, so eventually it didn't turn that bad, but the "OffTopicJUNK" part still gets on my nerves)
moving the art contest with real cash prize to an unused forum
completly needless deletion of the XXX thread
banning al666
making a number of relatively unrelated/useless stickies (I mean the one about trojans)
and that time when we all complained that OTJ needs a moderator, and you made mcDuffies a moderator... in the GAMES forum
Solving all the problems with one swift blow is not what people like, especially if the blow misses the target and destroys a critical facility.
In case of problems I'd like you to do things in this order:
Think first.
Then talk with people.
And then act, only if necessary.
Because to me it seemed like you do this (at least in some cases):
Act immediatelly!
Perhaps listen to people complaining.
And then think, only if necessary.
Okay, so maybe you don't do that. But it sure seemed like you do.
For example: It doesn't seem like you actually read the Treeko's posts
All he said was "GD is not your personal forum, this thread does not belong here" (and IMHO he was right about that)
and when BK insisted that this thread does belong here, the Treeko required an explanation (and IMHO it was the right thing to do).
BK responded with something I don't quite understand, so the Treeko inquired further.
I figure the purpose of all that was to make BR realize the GD is not his personal forum, and that he shouldn't have posted the thread here.
So, IMHO the Treeko is all cool.
But you suddently want to ban him? o_O Another case where I don't understand you.
Take some responsibility for your actions. Perhaps it's no longer the case, but a while ago, you'd appear, do your thing, and disappear, leaving the problems caused by your intervention for others to deal with.
Stop that.
BTW, clean up your stickies.
BTW2, "loose" usually an adjective meaning "not tight" or a verb meaning "to make loose"
"lose" is the word you're looking for. (lose=to fail to keep)
