Yummy possibilities...

Post by Shianra »

Hey all, umm, I want to have a webcomic....

Heh. Sorry about that, but it's true. Unfortunately I have no computer skills at all, will that be a problem for setting up a comic?

So, what should I do first? I have a storyline, I have the main players, I have the omnipotent cat....what next?

can I just scan in my pages and put them up....oh dear, I'm really not good at this. Little help please?

It won't be a problem at all! Loads of people, like me, have webcomics without even being able to draw, so lack of computer skills doesn't matter one bit.

But I can only encourage you, because I don't really know myself. But people will help you ^.^

You should start by drawing things out. Make a few pages and see if you enjoy doing this. And to let yourself know your serious about this webcomic nonsense.

After you've decided that, there's this wonderful tutorial in the Help Forum by the lovely and talented and merciful Phalanx that will explain the whole thing for you as if you're an idiot (which I certainly was/am).

Lack of computer skills for the most part are forgiven here.

Godspeed.

Well, a few questions first. Have you signed up with Keenspace already? Can you write html at all? (html is optional) Do you have an FTP client?

Basically I would suggest you head over here for a bunch of usefull infomation on using Keenspace.

Oh yeah, if it seems a little crazy in here, that the just the status quo.

when Cricket and I started, they were talking like they were handing out 'Spots to every idiot with a pencil...

Also, instead of downloading an FTP thingy, there's always this.

i did comics for the newspaper at my dorm, and someone told me about keenspace. i almost didn't do it because i was FREAKED about the html part of it. if you go to my website you'll notice i haven't done a thing with it in the decorative department, but it's not bad once you get it all set up.
it's like a toddler that watches itself!
or a self-toasting bagel!
c'mon gang! what else is keenspace like?

Let me put this way. I started out not knowing crap about HTML and now my future job goal is becoming a web designer. Go figure.

Yeah, you can do it.

Just make sure you're ready...it takes more time to pop out a comic and make it look good than I thought it would.

Keenspace is awesome. I haven't been here long, but I love it, and everyone's been very friendly.

(Pats his infamous scanner, who he has decided to name "Erica.")

...and they accept you for who you are.... :P

There really isn't much more to it than that. There's plenty of good tutorials and step-by-step guides and help files around, and the Help forum to ask questions in, and whatnot.

If I can do it, you can do it!
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

Can you draw? If you can do the comic part, the web part can be learned in short order. Really all html is is text formatting rules.

Sorry, the internet is full. You'll have to try back again later. We've reached our critical capacity for webcomics and no new webcomics are being accepted on the internet at this time.

Thank you for your interest.
