But what is the purpose of the main page? To show that there are categories of comics or to try to pry a new reader into the fold? Chances are that someone who knows of Keenspace probably doesn't hit the main page all that often. I think the main page should draw (pardon the pun) a reader in. Also, ...

Site Unavailable
My site seems to be unavailable. I can ping it without the "http://", but I get nothing from Mozilla or IE.

Not a big deal, just thought I'd report it in case more sites turn up unavailable.
Thanks,
James

Site not updating

My main page ( http://fromthedeskof.keenspace.com ) does not show today's comic, but the archive version ( http://fromthedeskof.keenspace.com/d/20040707.html ) and a test page ( http://fromthedeskof.keenspace.com/indextemplate1.h...

links opening in new window
I noticed recently that my automated ***first_day*** ***previous_day*** and ***last_day*** links are opening up new windows. This is a new behavior. They used to stay in the same browser window. I have <base target="_top"> in the header of indextemplate and dailytemplate. Oddly enough, the ***next_d...

That was one of the best yet. I am still blown away by the simple, yet touching prose in the last panels. The elegant shading. The Kurosawa allusion. The bold use of chiaroscuro. The in-your-face perspective with the cliffs and water. BTW, is that a 14th century Japanese influence? Oh, wait. That wa...

Nah, I understood it to be a reference to Klaus Schulze, synth player for Tangerine Dream. He's who I think of when I read the doodle. On 2002-03-28 06:56, BoxJam wrote:

Isn't it better, in some way, *not* knowing? I took a communications class once (post grad--don't ask) about documentaries and movies based on real events. The "based on a true story" phenonemon was one of the many interesting things we discussed. People seem to perk up when a story really happened ...
