Huh?

If you're not in Alaska you might not get the joke. This is for your cheechako questions. Like what's a cheechako?

Okay, the feb 14 strip was cute, but what's fur rondy?

Good day to return on, too. Here in DE, btw, we got a couple inches of snow and today freezing rain, which has coated everything with ice and caused all sorts of disruptions, including school closings, power pole transformer failures, broken tree limbs, and loads of fender benders. Be glad you're in alaska!
Best wishes,
Rogers George

Fur Rondy is a huge festival held annually in Anchorage. Historically, it comes from a time when trappers and miners would gather with the winter's yield and events were organized around the gathering. It started small in the 1930s and grew into the major event that it is now with sled races, acting, games, and many other events.

You can read more about it at the Fur Rondy Official Site

Thanks ArcticMage, couldn't have said it better myself. Fur rondy actually doesn't start until the 23rd. But that just makes Buck seem that much more clueless.

Well, it looks like fun, but it's too early for me to ride my motorcycle up there, so I guess I'll have to miss it...

Got anything interesting going on in July?
Best wishes,

Well, there's the Girdwood Forest Fair. The silver salmon runs are starting so my mind is on fishing. More special events are going on around the Summer Solstice. (June 21)
