The FINAL List of Alternative names for Keen/Toonspace

Postby Phalanx on Tue May 24, 2005 4:10 am

*Sigh* The only way we're ever going to get this over with is we get organised, so here we go.

Suggest alternative names for Toonspace here. If it gets seconded by someone else, it goes in top list which will then go in a poll. After the suggestion period is over (I'm giving it 24 hours at the present), we stop taking suggestions, start the poll voting, and the one that is most popular is suggested to Chris Crosby as the acceptable compromise alternative name. How does that sound?

My suggestion is http://www.spacehorde.com (The domain is free, I googled, no one else seems to be using it)

The Partial List

1. WebcomicSpace
2. SpaceHorde
3. KnackSpace
4. KomikSpace
5. DreamCosmos
6. ComicGenesis
7. SharpComics
8. SpaceBetween
9. DoomBees
10. StripSpace

Others are welcome. Make sure you check the domain is available and there are no existing trademarks before suggesting a name.

If you see a name you like be sure to second it.

Let's just pick a name and get it over with.

Note: We stop taking suggestions at about 12pm GMT

webcomicspace.com is NOT available. The registration just happened; Internic doesn't have the registration info yet, but if you go to your favorite domain availability engine, it'll tell you that it's unavailable.

Hopefully Keenspot Entertainment registered it?

Keenspot did it? If so, I think this thread is of little relevance then.

Regardless:

Quick definitions (Knack)

# noun: a special way of doing something (Example: "He had a special knack for getting into trouble")

Sounds good to me. And we won't have much trouble adapting the design.

I'm not sure, but in the case of toonspace, they registered all three top-level domain.

I emailed Chris to ask him for 48 hours for us to decide on a final name. He hasn't replied yet but until he says "no" it won't hurt to try in the meantime.

These are all fine names.

Anything but toonspace. :D

Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

http://www.apathyspace.com

It's available, it describes a fair number of people's feelings about this whole thing, and it describes many creators' work ethic regarding their comic as well, making it truth in advertising if nothing else. It's not unecessarily unwieldy, and I think it's actually kind of catchy.

I'm down with KnackSpace... anything but ToonSpace.

KnackSpace... a place where people go who have a propensity towards doing something. >_>

I'm gonna go look for more cool "K" words... I really liked "KeenSpace" though.

And an addendum: while I'm all for brainstorming, let's try and keep this as serious as possible while there's still the chance that the co-owners reconsider the naming.

In case you're talking even partially about my suggestion . . . it is serious. Or, it's at least three-quarters serious. Unfortunately, it's nigh unlikely that they'd choose Apathyspace, seeing as it's not a very marketable name for a free webcomic hosting service. But I do actually like the sound of it, and I really wouldn't mind being an Apathyspacer. I'm one of those comic creators that it best describes, after all. ;P

Many thanks. :) Even if they don't use it for Keenspace's new name, I might have to find some use for it in something else later.

Space horde and Webcomicspace are fine. So is toonspace, actually - after a good night's sleep, it doesn't sound so bad. I don't really like Knackspace, mainly because I didn't know what a knack was before RPin explained it, and that most likely mean that we'll have to explain the name all. The. Time.

Anyone knows if Spacecomics is available? That would be my vote if it was.
