Ok. Here's the deal. No joking here punks, all business.
I want some pictures drawn. I have descriptions in my head that I'll write down in detail. But I am unable to draw them in the style I wish for. Now I am all for just going and learning the correct style and the like, and I'm not terribly lazy. But I want them done in this decade.
So here's the deal. You agree to draw a few things for me. I'll draw a few things for you, to whatever specifications you wish. Then we go about our lives happy. Sound good?
The designs I have in my head are pretty complex. They will be humans with some pretty unusual mechanical "enhancements". One of the creations is a nurse whose entire right half of her body is that of an assistance robot. Her clothes are torn and bloody, there is a visible "seam" where metal molds into flesh. She tries to walk but it's more of a spasm that somehow propels her forward. The rest of the designs are equally as odd. So it's a tall order and I know I can't hope to give something in return of such high quality. But I wanted to ask, because it really couldn't hurt to try =]
P.S. Do keep in mind my artistic limitations to sprite-like work. So if no one is interested then I am not offended. =]

Well it sounds like an interesting idea, I don't have the time to do anything right now, since it's almost the end of the school year and my Design Portfolio is due in a month. Bah! I wish I could do it!
But then, if you don't mind waiting until May I could try this out. I get the feeling you want it done rather soon though and someone will probably fill this order by then.

When I get a second (I'm a bit busy for a quite a while today, I'll PM a long description of one of the monsters. You can see if your interested, also if you are let me know what you would like in return. And don't worry about complexity, I'm a fan of a challenge =]Jim North wrote:I might be able to do something up for ya. I just happened to make something vaugely similar to what you seem to be looking for a day or two ago, actually.
Note: I forgot to mention what it's for. It's essentially "for" a story I'm writing but in all reality I am just incredibly interested in seeing them drawn out. The story is still in progress I kinda do bi-weekly updates on another forum. I just wanted to have some examples of what the creatures in the story look like to go with what I'm writing. Sometimes the visual stuff gets lost in between the writer and reader if that makes sense.
Obviously sci-fi. But the nitty gritty run down is Nanobots go nuts and have the essential drive to modify humans in helpful ways. But some of the programming is messed up so they use whatever is closest for a starting point of the modifications. So some people are half robot, some have turrets sticking out of their bodies, ect. All nice dark sci-fi =]

Oh, it makes perfect sense, and I rather figured it was something like that, anyway. Personally, I like to draw characters and other things from stuff I write so that I can solidify the image better in my own mind, which I think helps in writing better - or more specific, at least - descriptions.Spriteville, USA wrote:I just wanted to have some examples of what the creatures in the story look like to go with what I'm writing. Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.

I do this too. usually when I work on stories I sketch out charcter designs and things to help me visualize them. many times this is the first step into coming up with plots and stuff.Jim North wrote:Oh, it makes perfect sense, and I rather figured it was something like that, anyway. Heh heh, yeah =] I'm still working on it. I hope to have it done in a few months, then I can start editing woo!Col wrote:Is this based off that short story you were writing in an earlier thread?
P.S. I'll get a description to you ASAP. (I just need to snag reference pictures)
@ Everyone: Oh and also, if anyone checks here for updates, I'm sending one description to each person for the time being if you feel like doing more than one, let me know I'm not going to limit you.
@McD: I'll get a description out to you ASAP as well.
@Tanjou: I appreciate the offer, but I'm not really looking for a chibi character, although I will admit that'd be pretty entertaining =] However for being kind enough to offer I can shoot off a quick sprite thing to you if you want =]

if there's no time frame I could. but because I got so many things on the burner right now gearing up for my move, it would be about three weeks before I'd get to it. however I am working on scifi style character designs right now for this still in the down-low project I'm working on. but said project is more inspired by late 70's early 80's style hanna-barbara cartoons so for realism it'd probably be a bit more of a stretch than what i'm working on.
n_n; I meant just as a sketch, so I can make sure it's the structure you want before doing a final piece.Spriteville, USA wrote: @Tanjou: I appreciate the offer, but I'm not really looking for a chibi character, although I will admit that'd be pretty entertaining =] However for being kind enough to offer I can shoot off a quick sprite thing to you if you want =]

Ok, I think I gave this guy as a project to someone, but I wanted to post this cause I think it looked cool. I got in the mood to do this. Took me 2 hours.

If I gave you this guy to do, you can still do it because there's something that doesn't quite come off as bad ass when it's pixeled =] Just think of this not as me doing your work, but giving a visual aid =]
P.S. I am pretty proud of the pose in this =] Hooray for learning poses!
