Man, I'm going to miss him. He brought so much to the world of comics. Can't believe he was still working even at 87. It's a sad day.

I've been reading Eisner books for a while, and though the library of comics I keep is slim, he's one of the few that I loved to read over and over again. I feel like I lost my own father.

This is a sad loss.
Without him, like Jack Kirby, there would be precious little comics history to peruse.
And he created not only the SPIRIT, but the graphic novel.---Al

Amen to that sister! It's a real shame too. Someone working for that long is someone to be respected.
And on a completely random sidenote I feel kind of bad now because when I first read this I thought you meant the CEO of Disney (A Mike Eisner I believe) and was actually happy at first.
I'm SO going to hell.

I missed this thread when I looked for one. That is a very nice article you've posted. Thanks for it.
At any rate, damn. There goes another hero I'll never meet...

Yeah I had a friend who worked at a comic store in Boston that got to meet Will Eisner. I was so jealous. if I realized he lived in Ft Lauderdale I would have been stalking him. He was still writing and drawing up until his death. His last book (I think his last one) The Last Days of Vietnam was really really really really good.cortland wrote:Wow.Who here didn't even know he was still alive? I mean, the guy is a comics legend from the Golden Age. He's been in the business since forever, so I naturally assumed he'd passed on long ago. Too bad I didn't get his autograph when I had the chance.
We'll miss, you Will!

Wow... I just learned of Will Eisner's existence yesterday.
Coincidence?
