Be careful of some FTP clients.

Post by STrRedWolf »

I have now gotten word that Ipswitch, the makers of WS_FTP, are now spamming users that previously opted-out of any emails.

It is a sad turn of events for me (not KeenSpace, let's put that away), to see that. Instead, I'm going to ask folks to try FileZilla, which is an open sourced Windows FTP client, and let others know here.

Also, if you have your own recommendations (freeware perferred), please folks know here!

Well, I stopped using WS_FTP simply because I found Filezilla to be better, so that definitly gets my vote.

You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

I found a nice little program. http://www.coffeecup.com/free-ftp/
Some like, some don't, I love it. It was the first ftp program that I found that was free, and simple enough for me to figure out in less than 30 seconds. I am easily daunted by big programs with lots of functions but this one was nice and simple.

FileZilla

I've always used FileZilla. Coffee cup FTP is just a bunch of ads and little else.

A good FTP client, as far as I remember, would be BrandyWare's FreeFTP. Rather simple and basic, so it's be good for beginners, though the file transfers were a little bit arwy sometimes >.>

if you use windows, you could always use windows explorer (the one you can use to browse maps on your hard drive... not windows internet explorer)
yust start it up and type ftp://yourusername.keenspace.com
after a bit, the login should pop up so you can type in your username and password...

been using it for quite a while on different computers... works good enough 8)
need a forum for your comic? request one here.
got 5 gmail acounts to give away...

I use LeechFTP, which can be found in the FAQ thread. It's pretty easy to use and can upload multiple files at once. It's been pretty reliable for me, and I wrote a simple tutorial on how to use it, which can be found here.

Ooh hey, I use WS_FTP. Don't think I get any spam from them, possibly because I was a) using a different e-mail address when I got it and b) I think I actually signed up for the newsletter.
Boot Camp - There don't appear to be many Worms webcomics out there...
