Newsbox not showing up

Okay, I've recently had to move my banners around due to some access issues (see other post: Missing Banners and Newsbox). Everything is showing up in the listings, but my newsbox image isn't appearing in the comic setup. It's been 3 days since the images became available, is it normal to have to wait this long? I deleted the old newsbox before readding the images.

I got pretty quick response in my last post...the odd thing is the newsbox showed up on it's own the first time around....of course, the whole siteadmin seems pretty rudementary so who knows what's up with it...

By the way, I don't know if the admins are ignoring this because they don't know how to fix it... But I posted the same thing a month ago and it went completely ignored.

well that just friggin bites...did it ever fix itself?

btw- don't know if you knew, but your tag-board causes popups...
I got mine at http://myshoutbox.com. It's completely ad and cost free and you can set it to use the style sheet on your website so it will always match, regardless of how you change things.

I can't troubleshoot the newsbox unless you are online at the same time, as the best I can do is delete it manually and have you create it again.

Do keep in mind the comic HAS to update at least once a week or it drops off the newsbox.

Well, I deleted it in the siteadmin...I lost it because I moved the images due to another problem...as for the update regulation, I was not aware of that, but I will keep that in mind...will it come back once an update is done? If your deleteing the newsbox will fix this, go for it!

For some reason, all by banners disappeared, including my newsbox, so I'm trying to put them back in again. They all seem to show up fine under the "Edit Banners" link in the site admin, but when I scroll to the bottom of the comic info page, they won't show up with radio buttons next to "NewsHACK *USE AT OWN RISK*," even after waiting for a day or two.

Any ideas what I should do here? Any help would be great.

yep...that's the problem we're all talking about...the newsbox not showing up after moving the image locations....all on my other banners are working fine...hope this gets fixed soon

Well, I guess I'm glad that I'm not the only one with this problem. Is this doesn't get solved soon maybe Bean from Paragon Fishing can start charging people to run their newsboxes in his slot.

how to remove banners from banner manager... if this is the issue...

remove your banner from your public_html/images as well as your workspace/images

give it 24 hours (sometimes a full manual update will do this). It should be gone from manager. then upload the new one and specify it like you did your old one.

manual update.

you should have your new banner.

as far as I know the manager will only allow one banner of each type specified.

You shouldn't have an "as well as workspace/images" they are supposed to be one and the same... if they aren't, you broke it. public_html/images = workspace/images

Deleting the newsbox... the banner will be deleted by simply removing the file. But the process that does this only runs once every 24 hours. this doesn't delete the newsbox however.

I did just as phactorri suggested: I removed my banners via FTP, waited for a bit and they were cleared off the server, and then uploaded just one of my newsboxes, and made sure it was 150x300. It doesn't seem to have worked since after a few days my newsbox still won't show up underneath "NewsHACK *USE AT OWN RISK*." Clicking "Delete newsbox" produces this line at the top: DEBUG 14232 : : 52DELETE from keen_news WHERE AND comic_id='14232' AND news_id='52'.

Kisai, if you could kindly use your magic mallet on my newsbox, I'd deeply appreciate it. Maybe that'll straighten it out. If it works afterwards, I'll definitely owe you some artwork.

OK, here's what I did (all today):

1. Removed the banners from the FTP server.
2. Waited about an hour for them to be missing from the "edit banners" page.
3. Uploaded them again and added them via "edit banners."
4. Now it's the same story as before--the graphics show up in the "edit banners" page, but I've waited a couple hours and there's still no newsbox with a radio button underneath "NewsHACK *USE AT OWN RISK*"

Anyway, I'm running out of ideas. Does anyone know if I did something wrong, or could try something else?

I've done a similar thing, I've got a new newsbox allocated because the id number changed, but I've still got the same problem. Although my newsbox does appear beneath "NewsHACK *USE AT OWN RISK*" it doesn't appear on http://guide.keenspace.com/newshack.php ... &rating=99

I've added an extra cleanup process to the backend, that should fix it.
