How long did it take for your comic to get popular?

Now THAT would bring in the niche market I'm looking for.

april is my best month so far, averaging 88 visits a day (about 1997 hits a day) Considering I've only had the site up for about 8 months, I think it's doing well.
*laughing* I know I want my comic to be more popular, but I think it would require a site that wasn't ugly. I wish I knew some decent HTML to pretty things up.

As for getting 200-500 hits a day, I had that within two to three weeks. As for that many visits, I have been having 533 a day on average for awhile now.The Neko wrote:By the standards of what I consider "popular", I never reached it.
I doubt I have that many readers though. I believe the vast majority of visitors to my site are spambots, (Just look at how many comments there are on the first strip.) and some readers check the site more than once a week, not to mention all the times I visit my site.

Chicks - Check
Ninja - Working on it
Gamer - Eh, relative term here . . .
Naked - We can find a way . . .

I believe it's been said before in this thread, but to become popular you have to do some work on promotion. Get your name out there. Splash your links across the internet.Robbie wrote:Can I make a prediction about how long it'll be until I'm popular?
In other words, try to have one of your images stolen by Todd Goldman.
Alternatively you could go with the furry naked ninja gamer chicks. That's probably better.
I´m getting 180 visits/day now.
It Isnt much, but It seems to keep growing I guess (It went from 0 to 100 in an year and from 100 to 180 in the last 4 months).
I do get fan mail from time to time.
But I do think 180 is too much (considering I rarely have time to advertise It). Half of that is probably bots and 1/4 is probably repeated visitors. It´s hard to tell...
Actually I dont trust these numbers. I still get curious sometimes to know *for certain* how many readers I have. I guess the only way to be sure would be to register readers in a newsletter (I know not all my readers would register, but the ones that did would most certanly be reders...).
But then having a newsletter/regsitering system is probably very hard and time consuming.
In this thread I heard about a "unique visitors" number.. Does this exist? Is It in the Stats? Is It "better" than "Visits"?

Hm. It took- about four months for me to go from an average of 177 and 305 visits a day. This month the average is holding pretty strong at about 480 (although I'd be really excited to break the 500 average!)
Here's hoping. I'm also joining a comic collective, along with Red String, Ugly Girl, and Penny and Aggie (and a few others I think) hopefully that will help too
Being a part of a group like that makes me feel like a real cartoonist.

My comic's based off Gaia online, so people from there oozed right in. My partner and I were kind of awestruck to see something like 300+ at average in the beginning. (And, man...that's a lot for doodle sketches spawned from boredom.) It was just in my signature and we didn't talk much about the comic. Currently, we've gotten pretty tired of Gaia, though, so our direction is starting to change. We get about 10-30 at average now along with the "Raz, stop having a life and draw!!!" e-mails. **Shrugs** We're thinking of making a different comic while giving the current one a rest or just update it on rare occasions if Gaia happens to do something that catches our attention.
The new comic would be coloured and we'll be taking it more seriously. Already have some things set up along with some pages already completed and a more mature looking website design finished other than some of the artwork that needs to be done. I think I'll finish at least 20 pages first before we dare do anything like advertising or even hosting the stuff. Hopefully things'll go well in terms of time, though.

You deserve more readers than that!Humbug wrote:My stats went up really slowly in the 2 and a half years I've been working on the comic, and my daily average has been stuck at 450-600 readers for the past few months. I don't think I'm gonna get any more than that. Ah well.
I told my mom to check you out, after she saw the FCBD book.
