Make 2008 better than 2007.

I expect this to be an easy resolution, as 2007 was not a good year for me. At all. Though, surprisingly, I'm not bitter about it. Hmm.

Resolution #2: seize opportunities for bitterness.

At this point, the very first item on the list of my "resolutions" is merely a hope and relies on decisions outside of my power.

-Get into CalArts
-Become more competent at Art
-Finish my two degrees
-get an internship
-travel abroad this spring
-learn French and Swedish, and continue Japanese
-get more direction in life

300 dpi, same as every year.
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.

That's on my list for 2009. Any room in Canada or England for me?

-land a job so I can go back to california
-go back to school (finish my degree and perhaps get cracking on the second)
-finish decypher
-finish writing the material for my new record

and just random stuff thats a bit to far fetched for a year from now

-get a band going so i can play music 100% live again.
-learn more about audio processing and production
-continue to learn drawing skills so I'm not so embarrassed to show off my art.
-start using my training for something productive

Too many to list. I prefer not to limit my resolutions to New Years anyway.

2007 alternated between being a great year, and the worst year I've ever had. That gets a little disorientating after a while.

I like the 2008 being better one. I'm stealing that.

I still want barrels of cash, though.

Oh look, here is my list from last year:
A slightly younger but equally stupid me wrote:-Get more volunteer work in my field, or, better but less likely, get a real job in the English department (I have some leads and a mentor who wants to help, but if nothing's available...)
-Use this work to help me figure out a direction for my graduate studies
-Get my act together and apply for overseas studies, even if only during the summer
-Get more exercise
-Keep going with the comic
-Be more social
I did end up getting more volunteer work, but didn't qualify for anything work-study-related, so I suppose I didn't really fail with that goal. Similarly, applied for overseas studies, but didn't make the final cut. I did get more exercise and spent more time with friends, but I failed pretty badly with the comic. I can't say I regret that, though.

This year:
-Try again for an exchange or an internship - either that coveted full-summer one in Quebec (I don't stand a chance) or the "everyone gets in" Paris summer study program in July/August. This is all providing I keep my act together.
-Hand in my two weeks' notice at the donut shop by the end of August if the above fails.
-Continue to ponder my direction for grad school. "Settle on a direction" is too lofty a goal, I guess.
-Start the grad application process for the University of Toronto, and failing that, for someplace out west. And failing all of that, anywhere but UWO. Pleeeeease.
-Keep taking translation assignments, preferably paid ones.
-Do more traditional art, even if it means bringing a sketchbook to school and drawing people at the coffee pub.
-Continue plugging away at the comic, business as usual. Stop sucking, I guess.

To be fair, you were more social. You came to the cookout; you went to see Neko. Those were social things.

Actually, I was referring to my friends here in town, and I did end up spending much more time with them, so either way, mission accomplished (as I said above)!

It was pretty much the only goal that I fully achieved, since I stopped going to the gym in October. XD

Edit: in case anyone wants to peer back into the past, the 2007 resolutions thread can be found here: http://forums.comicgenesis.com/viewtopic.php?t=78558, and if you really love to be depressed, that one links to the previous year's, too.

Mmm, gym. I need to hit that shit once my knee heals.

edit: My resolution from last year is about my other knee being injured. HA!

It's a hassle, though. If I want to work out (properly) three times a week, I pretty much have to come in to the campus gym on my one day off, and that involves 2 hours of busing that I can't afford during paper season. I usually just end up walking everywhere and then switching to cycling in the warmer months.

Looks like I prudently declined to make resolutions the previous two years.
