*Cries from the lack of bookstores in his area

*
All that's in my area is a mediocre Barnes & Noble...since I seem to be perpetually short of cash and don't have a very exciting life, I've applied there twice for seasonal work and no one's called yet.
Bastards!
Thanks to working at Kmart, I have several years of retail experience, I know how to run a cash register and I've been a reference librarian for 12 years, I even work at an information desk...yet every bloody time I'm in this store during the holidays (Halloween - New Year's), I see new people there. I applied well before Thanksgiving, too.
What? Am I overqualified or something? I really don't get it. Yes, I make quite a bit more than minimum wage as a reference librarian but all I'm looking for is extra cash during the holidays. Whatever the store pays new employees is fine with me.
SIGH! Sorry, needed to vent for a minute.
The only other bookstores involve a 30+ mile drive out of my county. I visit a Borders and there's a better Barnes & Noble store out there too.
As far as I know, Books a Million doesn't exist in NY as I've never heard of any around here. I'm curious to see one though.
Yes, as a fanboy and a librarian, I crave bookstores to geek out in and get bummed because I don't have access to very many.
Oh well...
