The thread was locked first and foremost because it was an old, old, old thread which got bumped up. The lock was to keep more people from responding to it and having it turn into a giant flamefest. As Komi said, that was use of mod powers as they're supposed to be used.Komiyan wrote:It was locked pretty quickly with a 'hey, don't do that again', to be fair, it's not like it sprialled into a 50 page long thread of bashing and mods screaming OH GOD I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL THROUGH INTERNETS.Dutch! wrote: If you've been warned for this (and possibly further actions following), then sorry, sometimes people do get a little trigger happy with their powers here.
.
It wasn't an abuse of mod power, it was a use of mod power.
An abuse would have been me locking this thread as soon as I saw it.
Think of all the things I could be doing as mod (locking threads for the slimmest of reasons, reporting people to the admins for the slightest transgression, telling off anyone I don't like), then compare to what I'm actually doing and see whether I'm really as trigger happy as you're accusing me of being.

Hey, you've done nothing but prove me wrong since I opened my mouth. I think you've been dead on at least since midday yesterday.

Well, Jex ze Troll is here, so you can lock this up now, before I go ballistic on that idiot Doom's rear end.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Everyone makes mistakes, especially before they're familiar with a forum and its denizens. Newb syndrome.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not really in the habit of checking post dates. It's easy for us to guess the age of a thread by how far back it is in the forums, but newbs haven't familiarized themselves with the paces of the forums yet.
Now that he knows he's been doing it and we disapprove, let's lay off the guy.
And let's lay off Merc. Just because she's scary.

Well... If I search for a subject, any subject, I know I have to dig pretty freaking far back in time to find one even a month ago.
so when you erform necromancy you know it because you have to skim 5 or 6 pages of results to find a thread.
