Jams, I think. Different comics that put together have some sort of overarching plot.PeppermintAfterlife wrote:...meta comics?

Hiya,
Don't want to sound whingey, but I do have a small complaint.
On the pitching thread it says:
So which is it? and don't you think you should make it a little clearer?
Thanks,
'flow

But I have had my thread (Flowfield Unity) locked becausePlease make sure you have more than ONE comic before pitching. The recomended minimum is 20
Must have and recommended have two very different meanings. My doctor reccomends I give up smoking, but he doesn't kick my door down and steal my smokes if I don't.Er, does anyone read the guidelines before posting these days?
Must have a minimum of 15 comics in your archive. Come back when you have more.
So which is it? and don't you think you should make it a little clearer?
Thanks,

The reason you have more than one and at least 20 is because you get nagged at by everyone else who have an archive and waited patiently to pitch. People can't get the concept of your comic with 2-4 comics and will not only not be grabbed, they'll probably forget about your comic and move on.
So wait a while and come back with an archive and something to be pitched.
I'm sorry to sound hardass-but I am. And as a Pitching mod, I have to be.
EDIT: If you want to get your comic out before then, create a banner and put it in your signature. And post in more places than just the Pitching Comic Thread. Y'know...Join the community instead of whoring it.

Yeah, but you're missing the point
Yeah, I'm OK with what you say, it's fair enough that everyone should have to have a certain amount before they can pitch... but what I was saying is that your guidelines at the start of the thread say:
Also, you might notice on my first post that I provide two links... one to my keenspace account and one to my main website. If you had bothered to check, you'd see that my main site has over 30 archived strips on it, and since I can see that people have linked to other non-keenspace accounts without you locking thier post I assume that this is OK.
Finally, as for whoring my comics, screw you, at least I didn't become a forum moderator just so that I can splash my banner around. I work hard at what I do, work two full time jobs and still find time to draw. If you want to start getting offensive about people when they are proud of what they do then you are a bully, nothing less, and not in a good way either. I mean, for all you know I could be a twelve year old kid.
I would like you to consider your reply before (or if) you post one, and read what I have said... you are supposed to be a moderator.

Which, regarding what you have said is completely misleading, so why don't you change it then people like me won't have to get into this debate with you. This is where you advertise your webcomic to your new audience. Please make sure you have more than ONE comic before pitching. The recomended minimum is 20. If you have just started out and want advice, try the Techniques, Tricks and Tips forum.

Fair point
Pillywiggin, thanks, you are of course right. So, OK I could be a 13 year old kid... Is OK to tell a thirteen year old that they are whoring something around?

I am a full-time student working towards a PHD in English and have no time for your trolling whatsoever. I don't splash my banner around and I've been here for nearly two years now. My comics amount to over about 400 archived comics and I take college level course in both writing and art....
I earned my way here and personally, you're acting quite immature.
I did check your other site and if you had clearly labeled "Comics" for you "30 archived" a little more clearly, I might have seen them, but you didn't and therefore it was over looked as a site whoring.
Grow up and consider yourself reported.
Trolling?
Look, this isn't trolling and I do not want to get into a full blown argument over this. I just want you to answer my questions, simple as that.

Both of you need to chill out; this is starting to get ridiculous. The way you both are acting is coming off very immature, so what if you work two jobs or are in college; what does any of that have to do with pitching a comic or this forum?
Unityflow if one of your comics has more then 15 comics go ahead and repitch that one. The main reason everyone jumps on people when they only advertise with only one or two comics was explained; it just isn't enough comics to tell if the comic is good or not.
And I did read through your latest post, you are right. The description of this forum does need to be changed, I can see where people would get confused. The only problem is KrisX and Yeahduff although they are the moderators I don't think they were given the power to change the description. And the admin who did come up with it doesn't really frequent most of these type of forums. But I'll make sure to demand to him to change the description something more like "make sure you have at least 15 comics if you wish to pitch" .
Oh and one last note, Unityflow if you really want people to check out your comic hang around any forums you post in. Join in on some conversations, have some fun. You can get a lot more people reading your comic that way then pitching it. As an example, I haven't pitched my comic in this forum for many months now. But, I still get well over 100 hits from the comic genesis forums compared to about 30 or 40 hits I'll get with just pitching my comic once here.
