New Artist

Post by Damikey »

Hello there,

I am very much interested in doing my own webcomic. Can someone point me at what I will be needing to get this ball rolling? Somebody help? Please? Pretty please? I'll whimper if I need to.

probably a pencil.

Then you could invest in a pen.

A scanner would be useful to go along with the pencil and paper.

And a graphics program to edit the scanned image.

Don't forget an eraser. Unless you're the ultimate artist and never make a mistake.

And don't forget that hammer and chisel, either! You'll have trouble drawing on stone tablets otherwise.

A website will help. That will supply the invaluable 'web' portion of your webcomic.

And then I wonder why People say artists are insane. Ah well, ask a loaded question, jump into the chipper shredder of artistic wit.

Don't forget a healthy supply of illegally ripped sprites, an obligatory breaking of the fourth wall, cheesecake fanservice, and a hundred million adoring fans.

Redheaded fans. Of whichever gender you prefer. And some of the other gender too.

the thing about doing a webcomic is that you're your only boss really. You decide when your deadlines are and how much of a buffer you want to do before you start. If you only want to update on Saturdays and spend only the first sunday every month to do the next five comics, then that's your choice. It's a flexable hobby.... though it is a good idea to stick to an updating schedual so when you get those fans everyone loves to have, they won't send you annoying e-mails about late updates... but those usually don't happen within the first year you do it.

And best advise: STICK TO IT! don't sign up and then decide that you didn't want to do it and then leave a blank page to forever rot in the server.... it saddens us. And everytime that happens, a fairy dies... and clapping doesn't save them. that's a dirty lie.
