Or, alternatively, do you know about/are you attending (hah!) the Walnut Valley Music Festival (and flatpickin' championships--yeehaw!) in Winfield, Kansas next weekend? I shall be going there (I leave for Wichita on Wednesday) and I'm not coming home till Sunday night. If anybody is going to be there, I want to meet you.
I'll be living at the Carp Camp, which is obviously the best of all the camp communities because we hang a giant fish (windsock) from a tree.

Kansas is actually a really pretty place, if you don't mind states that are as flat as pancakes. Of course, granted I've only ever been there for the music festival and nobody really cares about anything but music whil we're there, so I'm uninformed about the political/social staus of the place.
So it MIGHT be a hick-hole, but I don't really know. The river we camp by is pretty, though.

According to the US Census Bureau, as of 2004, there were 2,735,502 people living in Kansas.

So yes, people do live in Kansas.

Winfield is about three or four hours south (I think) of Wichita. That's all I know, because I always just fly in to the Wichita airport and drive to Winfield.mrs_rkolter wrote:Well, if we didn't live on the other side of MO we might consider it. I know KC is about a 4 hour drive west on I-70 for us. I don't know where you are from there however. Then add in the cost of gas.
Perhaps next time.
But yeah, there are indeed people in Kansas. And many of them play folk music, hence the festival.
Oklahoma, now, there's nobody in Oklahoma but cows. And I know for a fact that there A) less people in the state of Wyoming than in the city of Tucson (about half, actually) and B) three times as many cows in Wyoming as people.
So Kansas isn't too badly off, compared to some.

Heck, I can tell you for a FACT that only four people live in North Dakota (counting myself), but we're listed in the national census with a population of 600,000.

Less people than (supposidly) those that live in Houston, though...rkolter wrote:According to the US Census Bureau, as of 2004, there were 2,735,502 people living in Kansas.
