Where did you find this?

It is portuguese (I'm spanish, so I can understand something of it). I THINK he is using your comic as an example of a short background description (of the characters) , when preparing a Rol playing game, or something. Then he says that he prefers more elaborate backgrounds for his characters...

That's what I understood. But I'm pretty sure it isn't an in-depth critique of your comic, he just mentions it as something interesting for some other forumers...

Any Portuguese comic-gener around?

The only Portuguese-speaking one I know of is RPin and he doesn't show up much anymore.

It's something about backgrounds, your site as an example, and then him talking about some history with a guy doing stuff.
My Portugese sucks, so that wasn't really helpful.

It's not a review of your comic though, I'd say.

I asked someone who knows Portuguese and he said...
Well, the gist of it is that this guys created as story, but mainly, he did the beggining and then started to add little by little you know? And the story goes like:
Warrior has his village raided and family gets killed
He goes for revenge but he's weak.
In the way he is found by (a paladin? a deity? an avatar?) and is helped (how? When? dunno yet)
In thanking for the help, he becomes an agent and starts his career.

Also he said he rather do longer stories and more detailed, cause he thinks that short stories can really suck for the lack of coherence
Hope that helps.

God it's been a while...
For people who like backgrounds with less then one page:

http://thunt.comicgen.com/index.html

Just kidding, of course.

Just one adendum to my [history/historics/something like that, most likely story/background] up there: of course it's already increased (after all, I've played with Alexander nearly two years on this damn campaign!), for I started with an extra-basic principle, that was this:

Warrior whose village was attacked and family killed.
With a thirst for vengeance, runs after the enemy, even though he's weak.
On the way, is found by (a paladin? a diety's agent? avatar of the same) and helped (how? at the time, I didn't think).
In gratitude, he becomes an agent for that diety, and starts his career.

From there I added, added, added little by little... I didn't write everything [some slang I am unfamiliar with].

Of course the well-written and succinct [stories/backgrounds] are not valued less then the [stories/backgrounds] that are longer and more well-written.

But what I've already seen of one page histories that even though come out real (forgive the word) s... regarding coherency and/or goal you have no idea. Because of this I *prefer* longer histories, so you can better get into the character's psyche, and make the story evolve.

But that's just my opinion. Some masters don't have time/don't like to read long backgrounds and make up characteristics as the story goes along, which works as well as building a guy who's already done.

[slang with a very rough equivalent to "Got it?" or "You hear?"]
It seems he's talking about writing backgrounds for Dungeons and Dragons-type games, and just mentioned your site as an example

Is awesomer a word in portugese?

Wow! I've always kinda looked up to you, as I was reading E.O.I. before I ever put Goblins online. Reading you saying that means alot to me, thanks!

(Now if only the fantasy/RPG webcomic reading world could witness such a quote, I'd be set.)

Hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. It may be Portuguese, but someone's talking about your comic.

I wouldn't mind if somebody spoke in ENGLISH about my comic.

At least you know it's getting out there in small steps. :)

Just do like movies do:

Sortelli of Elf Only Inn says "That Goblins comic keeps getting more and more awesomer"

of course, to be more accurate, you should say:

Sortelli, formerly of Elf Only Inn....

Oh well, have you tried Babelfish? I know, the horror, but it might give you the jist of it...in a twisted and evil fashion.
