Idle cubicle musing...

Post by Harvey »

The daily grind of 9-5 is really getting to me. People aren't meant to sit at a desk all day doing clerical work. What do you guys do for a living? Do you enjoy it? If you could drop everything, and you could pick any other job in the world what would you pick?

I'd be a singer in Vegas. Doing covers of Frankie, Dino, Sammy, and those two other guys... *sigh* Dreams are quite useless unless you make goals out of them.

I work at the college I graduated from making and designing costumes for their plays. I love my job. The only thing I'd change is the pay.

I'm a network admin for IBM.

I'd much rather be a gemologist, surrounded by rough, making beautiful gemstones and jewelry.

I'm a software developer. I like my job just fine. My answer any time asks what I would be if I could be anything, though, is a philanthropist. :)

I work in Network Security. Sure beats being a PC Tech, reformatting hard drives.

I'd like more money, but would have to drive into the city for that. Not ready to take that step yet.

I just started studying for my Masters in Museum Studies. A bit nervous about it, but here it goes anyhow.

I work for my university doing fundraising by phone. It's decent pay, okay hours, and i usually get to study while working.

My dream job? Working towards it right now, being a career soldier or working for the FBI to help make the world a bit better.

Yet another part-time programmer. I would almost rather be a comic book artist, but I know I get paid more as I am. I'm taking classes toward a master's degree in computer science, but that degree is years away.

What I should do is get a 40 hour a week job and drop school. I have no will to do so, though.

Grad school sounds great... i'd get to put off being in the real world just a little bit longer... Unfortunately I'm not so sure what I would study... I have way too many interests... :( Then there is that issue of tuition...

Assistant Sys Admin(intern position) for a local computer company. I like it, but I would like to be Sys Admin. The pay is probably better, and I'd have more to do.

If I could do anything, I'd quit my day job and play in a jazz band or an orchestra.

Right now.... I study to go into International Business and Management Studies.

it occures to me that when I'm done, they're gonna make me talk to people (NOOOO! *tragic expression*)

so maybe if I could do anything, I'd want to be a combination Children's book store owner + artist + writer.

.... or a broadway singer. well it'd be fun.

I am currently a grad student working on my PhD so mostly I do lab work or read papers and write grants and the like all day long. I hope one day to be a research scientist, though in a perfect world I wouldn't mind working for Lego.

My mom works in a cubicle. I hate it. That's why I want to do something in film. (planning on going to film school. w00t.) I want to see new things in the world, and tell a story.

Oh, and blow up cars.
You know, i should work on this.

Ninja. The pay is pretty good, and you get dental. But you have to watch who you work for. Those damn evil corporations. You give and give and they take.
