Anyone else spend a lot of time deworming?

Just curious.

A lot of big companies got hammered with the latest worm that uses the vulnerability patched by MS05-039.

I did a 32 hour shift patching systems and deworming them.

I use older and more stable versions of Windows - 2000 at the moment - have a firewall, disallow IE and the NT core any access to the internet, have AVG update and scan every night whilst I sleep and use Firefox and Thunderbird for internet stuff.

So...

What the hell are these worm things? Image

Edit: I hear Windows Vista is going to have the ability to circumvent firewalls and spyware scanners, which means that viruses and spyware will probably also take advantage of the same feature. Sounds like another farce in the making if you ask me. I'm seriously considering a Mac Mini and a switch box so I can flip between it and my PC (which I would then only use for games).

I use Linux. No worm has affected me at all.

And the computers at work seem to be alright. But Its early. I'm sure some idiot is bound to mess up all our computers again soon.

It's like a little program that opens backdoors to your computer or just generally screws with you.

I'm a mac whore. The only worms I have are in my fridge, floating in a baskin robins cup.

That's because you're a n00b, as evidenced by your rude scarcasm of Cortland, a beloved (at least by cute, fuzzy bunnies) member of our forums.

My company was unaffected too. Thank goodness! I had so much work to do this week, it would have been sucky to have to deal with that.

This comp had adware through the roof until last week (when I got to it =p). No worms, though. Lucky grandparents, I guess.
