You go into your control panel and choose the new domain with comicgenesis in it. The whole process took me about three minutes from start to finish, and it's already updated correctly.

... probably the easiest thing I've had to do with my account since it was set up. heh. :D

I felt the same way at first, but the more I think of it, the more ToonSpace sounds kinda immature and goofy. But I don't like ComicGenesis, either, so...whatever. It's not a big deal to me either way.

That's mostly why we'd like everyone to shut up about it. We had a buncha people who hated the other name, so we went through a long stupid ordeal about it. Now we have a buncha people who hate our current name, and we'd all like to avoid going through another long stupid ordeal about it. We have a name. That's that. Go have a cup of coffee.

Lol. Can't help but agree with you on some levels. Honestly, I think ComicGenesis is a pretty cool name. I don't care. It the site's features are the same, like free comic webhosting, and unlimited space and whatnot, I can care less what the name is.

Moving on, my real question. I changed every single link on my site, that had Keenspace in it, and made it into ComicGenesis. But since the site isn't up yet, I was wondering if that's okay. Also, when will the Keenspace main page be changed to the ComicGenesis main page? Cuz I've already linked to it.

You can already access the Keenspace main page already by using http://www.comicgenesis.com, so I don't think that'll be a problem.

And let the record show that "ToonSpace" sounds like a crappy attempt at a Looney Tunes spinoff.

Probably best to be safe and choose comicgenesis, honestly.

Isn't ComicGen the name of the comic book company that owned such titles as Sojourn and Meridian? Are we able to use that name?

I think you're thinking of CrossGen but then maybe I'm wrong too. It was a super hero in spandex thing so I never bothered with it.

In a generic sense, yes. In a more specific sense, Toon generally means the Looney Toons art style popularized by Warner Brothers. I've only seen one comic that really follows that theme. I prefer comic genesis because "comic" has come to mean pretty much anything that involves art and text from sunday comics to comic books. In my opinion it's better.

I dunno, I can't help but thinking asking people to not complain because we complained and got a name we like, but they dislike, so they could try for a name they like to be wrong. I mean, YAY the system worked for us, but fuck you guys, you don't get a turn?

I highly doubt the amount of bitching this time would fix anything, just cause we had a few legit complaints with it. We don't make cartoons, and keenspot already has a new branch with keenTOONS. Calling us TOONspace would just cause more confusion. That and we seem to have a smaller bunch of complainers, so I can't see much more happening with that...but we'll see.

I figure if the wheels of democracy turn for one group, the next group should at least have a turn with the wheel, regardless if they're strong enough to turn it or not. Cause really, Keenspace was the bomb name. We had it for years and years and years, and we won't ever get it, or it's recognition, back. That's the bottom line.

As for why we hate the name ToonSpace, it's just a retarded name. I'm not a carTOONist, I'm a webCOMIC artist. If I was a carTOONist, I'd expect to be working at getting on with keenTOONS.

Some of us are Graphic Novelists ;)

One thing I feel obliged to mention is that although the impression has been given that complaining magically gave the new name, that's not true. It just meant we had to start looking for a new name that lesser people would riot over. And the complaint card is more of a one-use thing. The more you use it the less effective it becomes.

I am very glad we didn't get named Toonspace though... although I thought WebcomicSpace was far far worse!

People are certainly entitled to their opinions. They're free to express their feelings about the new name if they want. But my problem was that I was noticing a trend of people - new here to the forums - say whether they prefered KeenSpace or whatever...probably without realizing that we've been through this whole debate TWICE before.

I'm reasonably happy with "Comic Genesis" as the new name. Toonspace made me think of Saturday morning cartoons... Webcomicspace was just so bland-sounding.

And since I'm pretty sure that no one has linked to my comic yet, I don't have to worry about people not changing their links over to the new URL.

See, there IS a bright side to being a complete unknown! :D

Frankly, I like Comic Genesis.

The only reason it doesn't have the same ring as Keenspace is that we're used to being Keenspacers.

I forgot who first pointed this out, but I think it's cool to be a Generator now. :P

Well, switched over to comicgen. I'm hoping they keep both comicgenesis and comicgen, because comicgen is so much easier to remember how to spell correctly...

By the by, aren't we Gen-Cers now?

Like Gen-Xers only...

Well I thought it was funny...
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.
