How are the kids going to know when they're truly controversial if we pros don't show them how it's done? I didn't follow you from the seediest depths of the internet to see you wimp out now, Ghastly. ;)
Remus, there is shocking for the sake of shock. Oh look, it's an abortion doctor whose a priest and part of al qaeda!111 If there is no smart context or logical reasoning behind it, then it's anathema to the original point.
Agreed. I don't think I do that -- everything in my comic is important to the storyline, even the controversial parts. But some comics do very, very well just on shock value. Chopping Block is a good example on Keenspot. Playing to shock value is a valid strategy, and I wouldn't look down at a comic creator who wants to do that.

McDuffies, you have deeply offended me. See you in court!

Damn, I just went back through my archives and the the most offensive things I could find were these two strips. They have the word 'hell' in them. Yes I know you're all offended.
Warning: This poster regularly makes unintentionally sexual posts. Or at least "unintentional" is what she claims...

These are the only 2 pages that I think could possibly offend people.

Mmm... I'm hoping that with good writing, I can emotionally unseat people in ways that reconsider how they view life...

I have big dreams. ^_^

A lot of you are really good at it. Yeahduff's last storyline really makes you think, even though there's so little speech in it. Very impressive...

I like how ya worded that...break people with profound soul crushing truths and the stark reality of things behind the theatre curtain. Through perfect symmetry and disorder we can harnass the impetus behind a quench for power and knowlege. Remember kids, take the red pill!

This one since I show a character who actually thinks the Family Circus is funny and this one just because it exposed McDuffies as a dildo wielding maniac. You know I never did finish that storyline. I had it scripted but Keentv took one of those unexpected turns.

Guess I missed the point, since God obviously exists within the context of your comic.

^ Jeez...why didn't I think of writing a gag strip about sexual abuse, amputees and suicide? It seems so obvious now.

Well what is the point? It's not controversial if it isnt profound or have a point.

Controversial is in no way an inherent quality. Controversial just happens when people disagree on what something does mean or what something should mean. The only way a person can ever be contreversial is with the help of at least one other person: a dissenter.
