Yeah, the real day of Independence of Mexico is in September, not May. My family in Mexico mocks Cinco De Mayo, all it celebrates is the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla.

Anyways, you should see Santa Cruz on 4/20. Crazy stuff going on in that hippie town.

I suppose so- though a good number of people in LA celebrate it for other reasons than drinking. There are actually cultural fiestas and whatnot.

I'm thinking a better analogy for LA would be St. Patty's day. But to be honest, I never understood the glam in that either.

As it was explained to me, and I don't know how accurate this is, this is just what I was told: 420 stands for the ammount of chemicals found in the bud of the plant. I don't know how accurate that is, but hell, the real reason couldn't be much lamer, I suppose.
