Personally, I don't agree with the newer, more lenient guidelines; I think it's best to figure in those traffic statistics. I mean, if you're just looking at ages and pages, mine will be up for inclusion on Friday, and I could probably annoy someone into making up a page for me. As much as I'd love to pimp my comic on Wikipedia, deep down, I know that it's ridiculous that a virtually unknown comic should be given inclusion in a database that's supposed to highlight things of Particular Interest.
And anyway, who goes to Wikipedia to find a webcomic? That's what things like The Webcomic List are for.

That's why reviews are fun!mcDuffies wrote:I think so too. I mean, it's not gonna add up to my postcount significantly.
Besides, there is a more interesting side of not posting it on my iniciative: I am always interested in how a total stranger would describe my comic, and it won't happen if I do so myself.

I always thought Wikipedia was designed to be an Encyclopedia of EVERYTHING. Not just everything important, but EVERYTHING.
I dunno, I mean hell think about it, someone is told about a little comic and they want to know more, where oculd you go? Wikipedia of course! It has EVERYTHING.
Posting to Wikipedia will not make you more famous, but maybe someone would use Wiki to find out more about something, I mean why not?
Hell I'm all up for adding personal bios about every person alive on there, I mean why the hell not. (rhetorical)

I think the issue was more that people were making one-line pages that didn't actually provide information about the comic. (Apologies to anyone who is offended by that, but... yeah.)
And anyway, Wikipedia aspires to a certain level of quality -- which you won't get if you allow every kid with a Megaman sprite comic to make a page. And if you're going to allow that, you might as well let people dedicate articles to their rocks.

Or else, y'know, to the comic itself...Spriteville, USA wrote:I dunno, I mean hell think about it, someone is told about a little comic and they want to know more, where oculd you go? Wikipedia of course! It has EVERYTHING.
