Well, here we go. This is totally different than what I have done before; used some grayscale brush pens (well, one of them was blue which created a neat effect.)

That pretty cool! What kind of brushpens are they? (I'm an incorrigible stationery-phile)Stephen Henderson-Grady wrote:Well, here we go. This is totally different than what I have done before; used some grayscale brush pens (well, one of them was blue which created a neat effect.)
You do a better job at the feet and knees than me, too. I inked the last one with a makeshift lightbox, which sadly needs to be brighter.
Staedtler Mars Graphic 3000 Duo. They are watercolor brushpens so they are not waterproof. I got mine on clearance at Hobby Lobby for less than six dollars; normally a set of the eight brush pens cost over 20 bucks. They have the normal color ones for about that much; I'm kind of thinking the grayscale ones may be not produced any more because of the whole clearance thing. Might just be an overstock issue, though. Still, I kind of think they aren't making them anymore which is a shame because they are really fun. If you have a local Hobby Lobby they may have some on clearance.Phalanx wrote:

Hmm.. .you're right. It does!RA wrote:got a little carried away with the colouring, i was originally just going to dd some greys in but the skinw as begging for colouring.
trying a new style of inking, not sure if i like it yet. X3
The style of inking is rather sketchy. Generally I find you can get away with this if it's not the face, but the face generally requires detail to make the picture look 'acceptable'
Yea, I've never had any patience for inking. Promptly after completing that I finally figured out how to make some smooth lines in photohop, haha. Murphey's Law gets me every time.Phalanx wrote:Hmm.. .you're right. And ee, you colour wonderfully

lazy sput is lazy.
Ah. . . Ink peoples. I suppose this might be a good place to post my dilemma *coughs* I've been inking on brisol paper and I started out inking with brushes, but when it comes to doing the lines I need, I find them too slow. So. . . I went out and got some nib-and-holder pens to try out. I can't say yet that I hate them, but. . .*shakes a fist in their direction* >__O
So, I'm wondering, if any of you have suggestions for some good, professional quality inking pens I might be able to try out.

I use two different types of pen, all with quick-drying, black gel ink. The first is a uni-call .7mm (for contour lines and shadow), the second is a needle point pen. I only use calligraphy pens and such if I have very large and thick lines, say for mountains in the background. These pens aren't expensive, and they do the job well.

I guess I'd like to jump on the train too ^.^ I don't have alot of faith in my own inking, but I'll still try my hand at it a bit.. I guess I have at least one I'd like to see inked..^.^ It's a redesign of an an older character of mine.. anyways! Have at it!
