How to deal with it?

Just kill each rat with a single blow. That's quick and unless the wights are now independant of the rats it ought to do the job.

If the wights are no longer linked to the nexus which created them they'll have to be hunted down one by one.

Undoing the tails would be a challenge, Quentyn might get nipped. (Of course he's got all those nice heavy clothes, and he could choose to use the sword to sever the tails.)

Consider also that if undoing the tails didn't destroy the wights Quentyn has to play ratkiller in an uncharted maze.

The rats are on the copier... If Quentyn is still on the copier when it next discharges.... they could have alot bigger problems on their hands than just wights!!!

Also consider the possibility that the rats themselves or any single object may not be the complete nexus; it could be the whole array. Quentyn may need to kill the rats, smash the crystal, tear up the ground, destroy that Pharaoh's Amber stuff, and maybe do some other stuff as well.

Hmm. . .so, the array is some sort of copier. . . .

Well, if it is indeed a 'copier', then there is no nexus in the sense you're thinking. RH did say that these weren't true wights, the theory was just close enough that Quentyn could destroy what makes them. If it is a copier, then he simply has to destroy the machine and possibly the rats, not try to find every piece of a 'nexus'. And given what we've seen so far, the copier idea makes the most sense.

It's not the crystal. The crystal is just a power source. A capacitor, actually...
It runs up through the ground to the surface, and covertly taps into the network of ley lines over the city... it was how Rosad provided himself with power for his laboratory. As such, it builds up an impressive store of lux...

Which is what attracted the Rat King to it.

They have the yummiest candy! And their faces make the cutest expressions when you try to explain internet comic stripts to them!

After a little of that, they usually try to put on their own 'I Love Me' jackets (the ones with the sleeves that tie in the back)

As for Quentyn, maybe he should have brought Colin along. This really is a rat-killers job!
