* Super Fight Fight
* War
* Alex and Ilia
* Twice Destined
* Pirate Queen Marianne
* Insanity for the Poor
* Burgundy
* Faub
* Gleaners
* A.N.T.s

i voted for ten, although i really just wanted to vote for super fight fight ten times. that wouldn't be productive, now would it? would it?! as for covers, i'd like to see war's second one. i'd vote for more, but these are the ones that i liked a lot, if it helps.

if this sampler thing is a success (or an unmitigated disaster), we should work towards doing it again (or more often!). also, if anyone wants their printed 'space comics distributed in my town, just PM me.
and that's when they came out. crawling oozing out of the wreckage, putting their bodies back together. there was nothing we could do except pray that the holidays would be over soon.

should i tell you to go to http://horrendousacts.keenspace.com ? nah.

Three people voted for my picks out of the eight who have voted. Stop that. I'm really hoping to get complete layouts from people. Arrange the pages. Think about how they will appear together in the finished product. Do we include the introduction or not? Do you have a different (better) take on the introduction you would like to see or maybe a fix to the one I wrote?

A quick tally of the votes:

Covers:
Remember, front cover, back cover and inside back cover are fair game.
The inside front cover will be an artist list and copyright info.
Mine: 3 front 2 back
War's: 3
Soap's: 1

Content:
Alex & Ilia 7
Digital War 7
Pirate Queen M. 7
A.N.T.S. 6
Cortland 6
Desolation Angel T. 6
FAUB 6
Gleaners 6
Insanity f t Poor 6
Super Fight Fight 6
Twice Destined 6
Burgundy Comics 5
McDuffies 5
Nahast - LOS 5
Seed of Judgement 5
World Warp 5
1 Br. Apt. 4
Decypher 4
Requiem 4
Introduction 4
Horrendous Acts 1

Keep the votes coming. If you are not voting for 20 pages or more, please indicate the size of the final comic you would like to see. As it is, we can fit EVERYONE in the final comic if no introduction is included (28 pages).

Sorry, Faub, but I'm not much of a graphic designer. I can only say that I think I would like to see War's "Bears" as the cover, and your "Hey You!" as the back cover. Maybe we could have the TOC on Soap's cover inside of the front cover? (I don't know if that would work, or if Soap would even like the idea of her cover being delegated to being the background for a table of contents...) But, basically, I can only say which comics, if it comes down to a situation where we cannot have everyone in it, I would like to see representing the online community here; this "space", if you will, of keen comics.

Also, I do think an introduction would be very useful, but other than what has been said, and without pulling unauthorized quotes from books (like "Reinventing Comics"), I don't know what else could be said.

I know that, for myself, when talking to people about webcomics, I tend to focus on the fact that, with so many comics on the internet it is nearly impossible to not find a comic that appeals to anyone's style of humor and entertainment: idiot-styled gag comics, biting-satirical commentary comics, epic-sweeping adventure fantasies, introspective and thought-provoking dramatics, and much, much more. When it comes to webcomics, there is truly something for everyone. In the giant, commerical, repetitive spaces of the Internet there is truly nothing as unique and individual as the emerging Internet comic revolution.

P.S. Sorry to change my vote (if I can), but I need to specify: War's for the front and Faub's for the back, but I really don't want to abandon Soap's: so her's somewhere in the project if possible.

If soap ever finishes her cover, I think it will match or better War's, though I do like the idea of having mine as a back cover. It's fitting in a way (telling someone off for thumbing through the book and putting it down.)

You don't really need to be a graphic designer to make a list. Joel had some good points in the previous thread about how to order the pages.

The inking alone has taken about 8-9 hours, about half of which was Kisai. I'm putting off doing paid art for this, so please let me know if I should spend about the same amount of time coloring it (I'm a slow digital painter).

The characters featured are the one listed in faub's first post! If you're not in here and you've submitted a minicomic (even if you don't know if you'll get voted in), LET ME KNOW NOW! I can still add you in! Also -- the clarity will be fixed. I just needed to post this now, because I was getting antsy about it.

Very cool :D

As for the coloring, I think you should leave it B&W and we should use it as sort of a title/introduction/whatever page. But that just my opinion.

And you have a right to it!

Still, I'm definitely gonna go against War (whose cover may > mine due to bear-age) for the cover-spot. :D

I put off two commissions for what I've done so far (I am stupid), so I might as well put 'em off a little longer. I think I'll just go ahead and color it, as I've been dying to color some scanned lineart with my tablet.

Someone -- Phactorri, I think -- had the idea of alternating covers for a collector-dealie. If the votes are too close, maybe it's an option? But it'd mean more work for people assembling the comics. Bleh.

Actually it might be a good idea. Seeing as I'd be printing the cover seperately from the main body of the comic anyway it might as well be a seperate pdf.

Seperate cover file is actually a very good idea. You probably won't be printing the covers and inside pages on the same printer anyway.

It is a good point about making the cover a separate file. It would make printing the content and cover a bit easier. I would like to keep the cover and the content together so people dont' just end up with one or the other. Distributing them together in a zip file is probably the best way. The trick will be ensuring the package is distributed together. The nice part about a single PDF is that it's very difficult to break up.

Soap, is that Tripod as a flying pirate bunny??? If so, I must be sure he never sees this, or we will all perish. :o

Very nice. Honestly, I really like both, and I think both will appeal to different audiences. Maybe we could include both and people can print which one they think would work best for their target audience? I'd probably do a 50/50 split and put both out. The "real" comics publishers have alternate covers, why can't we?

And yes, I'm gonna vote later today, I need to finish going through the options.h

Nope, I used the green dude in your avatar for the picture! The pink creature with the eyepatch is from Birdie's Super Fight Fight. Anyway, thanks for the support, y'all!

Click here to see the updated progress (I replaced the lineart). It's still not done, but I'm working on it!

War and I spoke in the chat yesterday, and agreed that his image is more of an actual cover, while my picture teeters over in poster-pin-up territory.

But I'll still color it to make it as eyecatching as I can!

Oh yeah! Surfing stoner frog. Love it!

Here's my vote and order. I included everyone who drew a comic for it as opposed to a single image splash page. Among the single-images, I went for those that had the most information about the comic. By my count, that meant that two one-pagers had to be left out (29 submission pages-27content pages). Nothing at all against those I left off.

For the order, I spaced out the multi-page one so there wouldn't be too many one-pagers all together. I also put FAUB accross the middle (where the staple is), because that's where most people will flip it open, and the art is very eye-catching.

1 - intro
2 - Twice Destined (pretty+mostly nekkid=good opener)
3 - Cortland
4 - Cortland
5 - SFF
6 - Alex and Ilia
7 - Requiem
8 - Requiem
9 - Requiem
10 - Seed of Justice
11 - Burgandy Comics Inc.
12 - Gleaners
13 - FAUB
14 - FAUB
15 - FAUB
16 - ANTS
17 - World Warp
18 - Digital War
19 - Digital War
20 - Horrendous Acts
21 - 1 Br. Apt.
22 - 1 Br. Apt.
23 - 1 Br. Apt.
24 - Desolation Angel Tango
25 - McDuffies
26 - McDuffies
27 - Decypher
28 - Mahast

Just a question - do the covers come out of the 28 page total? If so, I can edit this.

No. The cover doesn't count toward the 28 pages.

Here is mine Faub. I feel bad not posting in this thread really, I don't feel right voting for comics because I don't think I'm the best judge but to everyone who said thumbs up to me, that makes me so happy I think I could cry.
