I'm thinking she is. Don't know why, just have a feeling that they really didn't have anything to do with it, and that they sincerely don't appreciate it. I mean, come on, look at how much this has come back to bite them in the ass.Warren wrote:Hopefully she's on the level.
Anyway, we'll know all in 25 hours.

That was a flame war waiting to happen. The artist PMed me later and claimed it was an apology. All I saw was someone begging to start a flame war so I killed it.

Hello again. This is Adam. In a much calmer mood.
I did mean for my post to be an apology. I was trying to be humorous too.
The long and the short of it is this. I was trying to doing something good and drive a lot of traffic to the Norm's site in efforts to raise membership for his goal of 4,000. Being that everyone here is interested in webcomics, I didn't think it would be that bad. I thought maybe a few people would be offended, but I'm not a regular spammer and I wasn't doing it to benefit myself or raise a profit for me personally by sending out penis enlargment or home mortgage refinancing offers.
In all my sarcasm my main point was this. Don't hate the Norm or Michael and Nicole Jantze for something that was my misjudgement. I was trying to wave the flags high and make myself a target instead of those who had nothing to do with it.

Especially considering the topic posted in Comic Pitching by this guy went over about as well as a lead balloon.collapse wrote:For the love of God, if you're going to be a spammer, at least check your target audience to make sure they don't all hate your product.
I wouldn't say all hate. I was reading the comic before the guy decided to end his syndication run. Still read it now. I think this guy should have paid more attention to whether the target audience liked getting spam or not.collapse wrote:For the love of God, if you're going to be a spammer, at least check your target audience to make sure they don't all hate your product.
Hmmm..... the "Today's Strip" feature isn't working anymore, and the meter is still stuck on 12/18.
Trouble, perhaps?

If you're going to be a spammer, after checking the laws and the lawsuits and your ISP's rules, and you think you can get away with it, please do yourself a favor...
Shoot yourself, please? You're not going to get away with it. People are just that sick of spam.

Looks like he's going to keep making comics. They didn't say if they made 4,000 or not (probably means they didn't), but he's continuing on, and now they're saying if people want to see the new comics, they have to donate. Kinda tricky, really, because they said if they didn't make 4,000, they'd refund everyone unless asked otherwise. Either a lot of people decided to let 'em keep it, or they just, *OOPS* forgot to give a refund.

I just saw that myself. So it looks like the threats were all hollow. And Col I do wonder what they will do about the money thing. I mean the idea was that if they fail to reach 4,000 they would stop doing the strip. So they failed to reach 4,000 (And no one can convince me otherwise on that). But the comic stays. You know, they could have just said IN THE FIRST PLACE, "Please donate if you like this comic, we will continue the comic as long as it is finacially and logistically possible to do so" If a comic dies because they creator didn;t have time, so be it. It sucks but there are sometimes serious reasons to stop a comic sometimes, no shame in that. I dunno I'm feeling an "art should not be a forced obligation" sort of thing. But then again maybe that's not what people care about?

Hmmm, I got the spam belated too. My impression is that anyone who can think he can pass such mail and think that someone will believe it was unofficial plead by a fan and not by a site itself, is naive. Mail is just too official, too schematic in an advertisement kind, and it contains a topical comic by author himself. Not bloody likely.
Hmmm, also, how did he pick my mail? From this thread perhaps?
I won't raise any suggested action because 1. I think this is a one-time spam, one single E-mail is not a reason to raise hell 2. It is too late, this issue has been hanging for a few weeks now, and 3. I'm lazy.

I'll bet this fick suck has a pile of comics already ready and his "Well gee, with this outpouring of support, I'd just feel terrible about quitting the comic business." speech all lined up.
