What's wrong with BJ?
Joey,
What's up with BJ? He seems to have vanished off the face of the planet.
And more importantly, is there anything we can do to help?

He actually drew the Puss in Boots update, cuz I'm working on a Liza and Julie strip that's taking for-EVER (it'll update tomorrow, but I probably won't get it colored till the weekend. Christmas n' such). I asked him to do it also partly because it'll get him drawing something.
I've talked to him about his drawing and lack thereof, but I'd rather he'd speak on his own behalf (he used to live on these forums; not anymore). All I can suggest is you all email him. Email something like...
Dear Buttsitter (BJ):
Although the poop jokes, bitchfights, and references to nether regions in Tonja Steele make me pee my panties with glee every week, there is something missing in my life. And I think YOU know what that is. Don't you. DON'T YOU! I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN! WRITE ME A STORY OR I'LL SHATTER YOUR ANKLES!!!!
Email him. I know he at least checks his email.

Yes, but does he answer it? I e-mailed him a few weeks ago about a crossover idea, and I got no response. Do my ideas suck that much?J-Dawg wrote:Email him. I know he at least checks his email.

I replied! I liked it! I'm just (obviously) not that reliable right now.
Why no JF? Lack of motivation. Not the same as laziness--I loved doing the Puss in Boots strip for Joey, and I keep scribbling stuff on napkins, etc. I just can't seem to pick up a pen and be excited about the strip. Dunno why, and I'm sorry. I SO want to finish the Hallowe'en story once and for all, but that's more a pipe dream at this point...
I'm trying to figure out what to do. Joey said screw continuity--if I wanna jump ahead to a story I haven't set up (and I really do) I should do it. This means going through all my notes and hammering out a script. If you guys don't mind a huuuuge jump in continuity, I'll get going on dialogue and layouts and re-launch JF (and I promise to keep you up to date on my progress, so you don't worry about me).
If you'd rather I just skipped the Hallowe'en story and pick up with Ada and Victor, I'll do that--but again, I'll need to get a script together. Because the making-up-the-strips-as-I-go thing isn't working.
And if you can think of anything to get me re-interested in the strip, please let me know. I also promise I'll respond to your email, and I'm sorry H-Bomb--I should've followed up on yours.

My god! He lives!
BJ, if the Halloween story is such a bleeding abatross, chuck it overboard! One story won't make a strip, but we've just proved that this one CAN break it.
Post something! ANYTHING! Give us one shot gags, Bitchin' Kitchin' snarkyness, JoBethisms, filler art, SOMETHING!
Do cheap gags that you can whip out quickly while you work on the next storyline. If you get stuck on a storyline, work on the one that follows that. If you let a block stop you, you'll never write or draw again. You have to drop the story that's blocked and work on something else. Eventually, you'll come back to it and won't be blocked.
Don't they teach you this at art school?

I know what it's like to be stuck in a storyline you just can't seem to finish (Hbomb Show's "Where's Emily" (the one with the JoBeth cameo), Have a Nice Day's alien storyline, and DMG Files current "Endgame" storyline are ones that have given me trouble).
Have you thought about shelving JF and trying something new?
I'm always looking for new talent for Snowflake.
And if you replied to my e-mail, I did not get it.

BJ,
What would make you happy, and motivate you to draw and write more? Think deeply about this, don't worry about what we want. Get your head in order, then move on. After reading Tonya Steele and Jackie's Fridge, I think you two are very, very talented and creative. Maybe more so than some who have found sucess in WebComics.
On a side note, I love the "Bitchin' Kitchen" and if you wanted to do some one shot gags with them to get back in the grove, that would make me happy. However, it really is what would make you happy, and make you want to keep going.
Chuck the Holoween story. Hell, if it really bugs you to do that, then post your notes, and let people read it without the art. Maybe some day a few years down the road you will want to revisit it, if so great, if not no biggie.
Do you see what I am saying?
BTW did Wisconsin get any snow? We got officially 8" in Indy. However, I think I had closer to 12 - 16 at my place.

Yeah Ian, we got dumped on. I'm not sure how much snow, but it's enough to make it difficult to drive. Maybe I will just scrap together my notes for the Hallowe'en strips so you guys can see where I was going with it. I still like the idea, I'm just not happy with the execution.
Harold: I just sent a reply with some ideas this morning. If you don't get it, let me know--I sent myself a copy. If it comes down to it, I'll send 'em to you snail mail.
Doc: Thanks for the support. I'll see what I can do to roast the albatross and get some kind of update. Alas, I didn't go to art school--I'm self-taught. And since I'm a nihilist, I didn't teach myself the greatest ways for dealing with a creative block.
Maybe I can still learn a few ways to pick up the pieces and get my butt moving again.
Thank you, guys.

Just turn this to your advantage. Post the script and invite the audienced (that's us) to do the art as guest strips. At the same time, invite us to e-mail you one-shot scripts. You pick the funniest, or the ones that seem to be the most fun to draw and draw them and either post them or keep them as a filler library for the future.
