Did you ever see this? Jon Stewart went on Spin Alley and told CNN that they failed as reporters by catering to politicians rather than letting the people know the truth when the people needed it the most. He's being serious and Carlson just keeps laughing at him and cutting him off. I felt sorry for the guy.Psiogen wrote:Agreed.
Jon Stewart is great, but he's mainly funny because he mocks the idiocy of the 'real' news media, not because of his politics.
I just don't understand why nothing is sticking on Bush! Is the guy teflon or something?
--Healthcare is getting worse
--Bush dipped into funds set aside for social security
--environmental restrictions are being lifted
--The deficit is growing
--An *assault* weapons ban (read: military grade equipment in the hands of civilians and criminals alike) has been dropped for no reason
--jobs have been lost for the first time in decades
--international reputation and respect has declined dramatically
--the situation in Iraq is going in a downward spiral, coupled with the fact that most of the troops dying are US troops (read: very little international support)
--and we just find out that the reasons for going to war were in fact greatly unfounded. There were no WMDs in Iraq since 1991.
--I would also like to add that, despite how arrogant we Americans are, we are not wholly independent of international opinion. I think a lot of Americans resent letting the rest of the world decide what we do because we somehow think we're better than everyone else. Simply untrue and ridiculous to assume that the US does not need any other nations.
**His track record is horrible. Even if you say his views are right, the record of his past 4 years do not lie.**
Anyway, that's my take on it all. Hopefully it's not inflammatory. I like how this thread is going because no one has gotten up in arms over political views. Very civilized rantings and respectful opinions.
PS: for all you anti-Bush people, you should be pro-Kerry because he has the best chances of winning. If you vote for someone else, then you are indirectly supporting Bush by splitting Kerry's votes to candidates who have very small chances of winning.

Wow, Jon Stewart was harsh in that. I've never seen that "Cross Fire" show before, but I think I hate it now. Jon was trying to have a serious discussion with them and they wouldn't even break character. I guess thatAlaina wrote:Did you ever see this? Yep! That clip made my day. He made Tucker Carlson look like such a tool.Alaina wrote:Did you ever see this?Psiogen wrote:Agreed.

Incidentally, a poll was conducted recently showing that Bush supporters (on average) are less knowledgable about the major foreign policy issues than Kerry supporters. Heh.

In one of the debates, Kerry listed a few of Bush's supporters and said, "...but now we've alienated them." Then when it came to Bush to speak, he said, "You forgot Poland" and ranted about how Kerry disregards our allies.
CONVENIENTLY forgetting that Poland had already had enough of the war and was gradually pulling out troops so they'd be gone by summer. And Tony Blair had made an apology to the UN a few days before the debate apologizing for supporting the U.S.
REMINDER TO ALL VOTERS: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BALLOT RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 2. THEY WON'T TAKE IT AFTER, EVEN IF IT'S POSTMARKED NOVEMBER 2.

Words cannot describe how ashamed I am that a fellow San Franciscan is voting for Bush...Nightgaunt wrote:Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to vote for Bush

Well before Kerry's rebuttal, Bush was naming allies, he went from Britain to Poland. He came off as if he'd spent all night memorizing how to say the Polish guy's name.Alaina wrote:In one of the debates, Kerry listed a few of Bush's supporters and said, "...but now we've alienated them."
