I dunno if I can actually believe this quote, even though it's cited and everything. Maybe it was taken out of context? (It's from Michael Moore's book Stupid White Men.)

Actually, I don't even know why I'm posting it. *SHRUG ACTION*.

You're believing stuff Moore quoted? I haven't watched the documentary because as far as I am concerned a documentary is an unbiased examination of a topic...this is anything but, no matter who's side you are on.

At least, that's the way it has been advertised over here by the Left wing media...

For what it's worth Luprand, a lot of the last elections were choices between two evils.

I doubt Moore would make up a quote like that--he'd just twist its meaning to make fun of Bush. That's how he operates. (For that matter, Bush himself regularly does the same thing with Kerry quotes.)

It sounds to me like Bush is just acknowledging the obvious fact that he was running against a candidate--Gore--who could point to his own record of "peace and prosperity" as VP in 90's. It isn't easy to win against the vice president of a popular, successful administration. By all rights, Bush really shouldn't have been able to pull it off, and I'm sure he knows it.

ahh Micheal Moore.
his info is generally legit (rarely hear his facts refuted) but he spins it way out of control. not to say that is just a liberal thing, just listen to Ann Coulter (ungh) some time.
I watched F 9/11 like this, dubious and being careful not to get sucked in. he makes some legitimate points and presents the facts well, but you have to get past his deep opinions. it's easier with F 9/11 than with some of his other films. he tried a new approach in F 9/11 where he was behind the camera, and let others do the talking, and it really helped.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, where my parents vote, one presidental elections were conducted like that. It actually had really bad results, since elections were organized very biased.

I already said somewhere that with either of two candidates, we can only pray for ourselves. Personally, Carry is more simpatic to me, but I don't think I'd vote him either, if I had a vote.

No, you can't vote Bartlett. That show has been a disaster since Sorkin left. They should elect John Goodman next season.

Since I'm from up north I can't vote for anyone, but Bush scares me.
On the other hand, he makes Saturday Night Live a better show.
Kerry is just too bland to do a good impersonation.

I Voted Kerry in an Absentee ballot. Not really because I like him, but I do like John Edwards. (He announced his candidacy for Democratic Nominee on the Daily Show, 'nough said) I also feel Bush has screwed up too badly for him to diserve another 4 years. And I don't know enough about any 3rd parties to vote for them.

As for my opinion on the elections in general, I fell it would be best if we did away with parties all together in the public. I don't think we should even know who the candidates are before we vote for them. All we should know is their policies and track record.

"Candidate A is pro-blank, and voted for bill-x. Candidate B served in the senate for X-years and passed Y-laws on Blank....

I chose not to do Absentee because California really doesn't need another Kerry vote so much as Oregon, a swing state, does.

As for the ranked-choice voting, we'll be doing that here in San Francisco for the first time. I'tll be interesting to see if it works, and how well (I'm actually participating in a study, so I will know).

As for the election... at first I was going to vote for Nader, not because I like him, but because I dislike the other two candidates, and if he were to get enough votes, he becomes eligible for federal funding, which makes him a threat to the two parties next election. Historically this has led to a shifting in the positions of the two main parties on issues, so that third party is no longer really needed and goes away.

Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to vote for Bush based solely on the North Korea issue. Kerry wants bilateral talks, Bush wants to keep China, S. Korea, Japan and Russia in the loop. China is the nation with the most influence over N Korea, cutting them out of the talks would be... disastrous to say the least. Having spoken to people who served along the DMZ, they nearly had a heart attack when they heard Kerry's position during the debate. People think Iraq is bad? Just wait till open conflict starts with N Korea. (just one slight example to think about: 30,000 N Korean artillery pieces and mortars along the DMZ, a lot of which can reach Seoul, a city with a population of millions... can you imagine even trying to evacuate that place?)

Problem is ... if you do any reading of Exodus through Deuteronomy ... the people who criticized him ended up dying gruesome deaths through overstuffing, food poisoning, snakebite, etc.

Yet another bit of political rhetoric killed by actually doing the reading.
