Gone But Not Forgotten: Paying Webcomic Respects

Post by Pockybot »

Man, I can't believe how many seemingly popular webcomics are now no more. Some I really dug, others I wasn't so much into...but still deserving of respect nonetheless.

In the last 12 months I've seen the end of:

Mall Monkeys: never a big fan, but they had a few funnies for me

Force Monkeys: At the cusp of getting via a PA link, I think it appealed beyond the Star Wars fan

Beer Monkey: Not sure what happened to this guy, but it was charming

ClanBob: For four years they seemed strong, and now suddenly gone

Spells and Whistles: I wish Tauhid luck in SZ, but SW seemed to be ended right when he started to get a pretty sizeable audience

Movie Comics: An homage to PA about movies, one of the first movie strips I had ever seen

Elf Only Inn: They were back for awhile, now back on hiatus or just gone.

Repository of Dangerous Things: One of the few serials I was into

What other comics were ya sad to see go, or at least could respect?

respect?
Forcemonkeys was a good comic, but they're working on "The indomitable Mr Stick" now.

ClanBob?.. Would that be the life of riley?.. if so, their servers are farked.(actually, they have no server at all.. keenspace to the rescue?) that might be one reason.
http://p216.ezboard.com/fclanbobforumsf ... D=15.topic

it's ironic that EOI is seemingly dormant not long after it got spotted.. where the blazes is sortelli?...

as for webcomics at the end of their run?.. well, can't say, really.. but it seems that a few are beginning to go to the end of their own, it's walky and Jamie and Nick being two of them.

Funny, because I just came back from reading Comixpedia, and it seems like the Life's So Rad artist decided to give up on webcomics.

She even deleted the old archives from the internet.

And she sure chose a way to do it. It's like the Queen of all drama queens! I'm in lurv! 8)

Yikes! Calling "Movie Comics" an homage to PA is just asking for a flame enema.

They were very adamantly against being compared to PA, or being referred to as being "derivative" in any way, or basically being a cheap knock-off, or...

This is why I don't actually read many webcomics. Too many times I get into them, and then they're gone.

Kid Radd!
I nearly cried at the last episode.
I'm a man, though, and men don't cry, we work out. So I just did some push-ups.

I was sad and happy when Kid Radd ended. I was happy because it wrapped up the story properly and didn't just evaporate. I haven't seen anything else do that so well since 1/0.

But I sure miss it.

I'm also baffled about EOI. Get spotted only to stall? Sheesh. And where is Star Bored?

(grumble grumble)

and why am I late again? Damn...

ClanBob ended? Jeez! I didn't know that. I read them a while back, but for some reason I just didn't get back to them. Except maybe for that, there aren't any comics that have ended recently. Plenty on hiatus...but that happens. Well, there's the old well mourned ones, I guess. Things like Acid Reflux. Sniff.

Anyone remember "Living in bayside"? By Curtiss Barry?
I used to read that comic, but then forgot about it, and a year or more later I just couldn't find it - it dissapeared.

Three monkeys! This is clearly a conspiracy...

Cross your fingers or the monkey curse might befall:

God, the Devil, and a Monkey

Here's the notice:
"God, the Devil, and a Monkey is going to be on hold at least until January when I will then make a judgement as to whether or not I'll be able to continue working on it. Until then I'm going to post the Psycho Space Monkeys comic I'm currently working on in its place. I hope you enjoy them. If everything goes well you will be able to continue reading God, the Devil, and a Monkey in late January as the new semester starts. Consider this an intermission with bonuses."
