desolation angel tango

Post by Hartchamber »

hi,

since i finally finished loading up my archive, made up a charcter page, gallery and etc. and cleaned up my site a bit, i can finally invite you all over to my site here. http://desolationangel.keenspace.com

my comic is a long ongoing graphic novel that i started over a year ago. it's manga influenced in bit of the art and the story. i've had people call it a manga. artwise, it's black and white. i use a mixture of pen, tones, and pencils. if you like your manga to be character driven, moody, and philosophical, that's my stuff.

it's a fantasy even though it's set in a modern world setting. there is magic here. enough of it for it to be a commodity here. enough of it for people to try and control it. And the people who own it all live in towers, while those who dont live in the darkness. one of those who lives in the darkness is Genzo. Genzo is a rogue mage. he could be living in wealth up above the streets, but he doesnt like the tower people. he'd like to bring them down. Genzo has a secret inside of him. one he doesnt know about. He has the power to destroy the world. One night, the desolation angel appears to Genzo in a dream and that same night, a tower in the city is destroyed. That's what chapter one is about- the origin story.

the current story line is called deadzone - and it focuses primarily on Genzo's best friend Shay and shay's adopted son Bug - a half breed demon child. the demons invaded earth and were stranded there when the portal gate they used was destroyed by Genzo's girlfriend. the demons can breed into the human race, and supposedly there will be born, according to the towers' fortellers, a halfbreed child who will be strongest mage on earth. needless to say, any half demon child who has a smidgeon of magic in him is killed. bug has magic in him and Shay has to protect him. unfortunately, bugs magic could kill him unless he gets a certain medicine that the powers above have outlawed. right now, bug is waiting for his father to come home, has fallen asleep and gone dreamwalking to a place called roanoke- the witch village hidden in deadzone. there he meets an old man who tells him a story from the old demon homelands.

anyway, thats what desolation angel tango is kinda about. i hope some of you all will enjoy it.

thx for your time,
hart

Impressive tone work, I kinda like the sketchy look of it too. Though sometimes it can overwhelm the line work so that some panels require staring in order to dechipher them (especially on backgrounds where the line art is small and the tone dark).

Good stuff though, and ever since your bCx banner stared popping up I've always wanted to check this out, and now I have. I'm not disappointed :).

thx for the kind words.
yeah, i'm a bit of detail freak and like things a bit dark. i had people telling me in the beginning about i needed to be larger because of my line work,( i started at 400 and under 100k.) so i went up to 600 and 150k. but i really hate what compression does to some of the artwork. i almost want to run it up to 250-350k but than that would upset the dialup folk. i may end up with lo-res site and a high res one. i dont know. with all my pages and much much more to go, i'd hate to be a bandwith hog here.
i'm glad to hear you notice the buzz ad. buzz ads and the onlinecomic net ads have been very good in bringing people to my site.
thx
hart
ps. i'm guilty too. i keep meaning to read your stuff too.(and coydog's stuff too) but i've been so busy at work. i'll make some time this week to do it. sleep- whats that? i can always do that on the bus.

Yeah, onlinecomics.net is really good for bringing in those all-important eyeballs, and the sponsor positions are a good value for the money. I haven't done any bCx ads yet, but some not-insignificant developments have me thinking about it strongly. I'll inform you all as soon as I can.

Do let me know how they work out for you, Liriel. I'd be interested to know.

As for what's going on with me, well, it came straight out of the blue two days before my birthday, and I've been wrestling with the decision up till this week. It's ... well, bittersweet, because I'm not in a position, professional, financial or otherwise, that I can just blow it off and at the same time I feel sad about something of mine making a big move, especially when it's had such a good home where it is now. I'll say more when I figure the time is right.

yes, please do liriel. i can tell you i was pleased with my drunkduck ad that i ran on sunday. also let us know how that hotbullet action comics portal thing is doing for you too. i've thought about doing something like that, whenever joey manley gets his webcomics nation thing up and running. if i do end up doing that, i'll probably have to drop one of mirror sites-(updating 3 sites at a time is a pain, a fourth would be impossible) it'll probably have to be the dd, this keenspace site traffic is thru the roof as far as i'm concerned. but i'll be kinda depressed cause the duck is what got me started doing my comic steadily. heh, but considering the web comics nation was supposed to happen last year, i figure i've got another six months before i have to make a decision of cutting a mirror site. and besides a lot can happen in six months. que sera, sera! and good luck with your move, monique

Yeah the ad ran for two days on bCx, and it did pretty good... even though I think my ad just plain sucked :-?. My stats didn't really sort it out too well, but I got about 400 hits from bCx during those two days. (normally I average about 100-200 depending). Frankly though I think I've squeezed as much out of bCx vistors as humanly possible :P.

*is confused by CoyDog's post* :-?

Hot Bullet Press?

>_>

<_<

I don't know anything about it...
