My new stuff

Post by Ktflowerm »

My tablet (12X12) just came in the mail, and it came with Corel Painter 8, and I had no idea what that was but then my boyfriend commented that Corel was pretty expensive. I am not familiar with it at all, and have no idea what it's like. he also said that Flash, photoshop and Corel is a good combo. Anyways, I'm still trying to get used to the tablet, any tips for me, my tablet, and the program that came with it? Basically I ended up with Flash, Photoshop and my tablet because I wanted them to make pri-eety stuff with but a professional animator suggested I get flash and the tablet for inking. Anyway, your thoughts? I am feeling a bit stupid right now.

Damn youuuuuuuuu! You and your 12x12 tablet :P just kidding.

Well I've never used Painter but it's supposed to be pretty good. Can't comment on that.

Photoshop is the standard. You can do some pretty good inking in PS using a tablet, as well as coloring.

Illustrator is another option, but since you didn't mention that, I won't go into detail.

Flash is good too, check out forumite Van Douchebag's comic White Hydra. He uses flash to do all the inking. If that's the kind of style you're going for, I doubt anything else can beat it.

As for the tablet, just do tons of little stupid sketchy drawings with it. It only took me a couple hours until drawing with it became second nature. It seems weird at first because you're not looking at your pen, you're looking at the screen.

That's about all the advice I can think of right now.

Grrr 12 x 12... :D

Well, I finally got good enough to do this. Not quite as good as I could have wished, but that's mostly my own art abilities. i think my mom resented having to drag me off to make me eat.

I've decided to forget about painter, besides, it doesn't like me. Thanks for the advice Esoterik.

That's quite good for just two days of using it.

You have the one knee raised as if the legs are crossed but they're not crossed. Also, the feet are tilted upward so there's no support for that pose at all.

If the legs are hanging the feet should point down. If the legs are extended, the feet can point up. If the feet are resting on the ground you should not be able to see the soles of the shoes.

It actually almost looks like the person is seated on the ground with his knees fairly close to his chest. If that were the case, though, you would need a shadow under the legs.
