Strangely enough, me and my friend have been planning another comic for a while now, and just the other day she told me that she'd like it to be a webcomic instead of our original plan of it being published. This thingy could have the advantages of a webcomic and of having it published physically.....

Only problem is, my friend is graduating next year, so she wouldn't be able to write the script so easily, and of course I have a bad updating record. Plus although I do like my art, I don't know if it's good enough to qualify....

Still, it sounds cool. Maybe I'll try too.

The GS system rewards frequent updaters, but I think once a week updates are still acceptable.

Your art's pretty good, if you have a good story, go for it!

ps: Faub, to be honest, I haven't even thought about publishing at all, much less looked into anything about it. I do know they have something called Swapmeet which allows you to advertise and sell merchandise, but that's about it all I know.

I'd do it, but I probably can't handle another project on top of the five I'm currently working on now. (As it is, I can't even update my comic on time. ) Sad thing is, I already had/have a script, character list, etc. for another comic, but decided to do HR instead. Maybe next time....

Action comics, huh?

If I had time to write an action comic, sure, but I barely keep up with what I do now. :-?

Plus, my writing's probably not tightly edited enough, anyway.

Say, they don't say anwthing about deadline... I may have a thing but I need a month or so more until it gets to state where I can present it to anyone.

^^Thanks. Even though yours does too.

But, does it kick enough ass to qualify, is the question. Even though you may not know it, I still have some problems that I have to work out myself with proportions and putting people in scenes. Luckily, having a comic has helped me a bit with that.

Of course, I emailed my friend the link yesterday, and she was talking to me today about trashing the idea we had and using a completely new one. Sheesh. Writers.

..

...

I wanted to say something else but I forgot.

well i did recently start a second comic (against all better judgement) - i only update one a week and haven't even made it to double digits in the archive yet... it's a bit more action oriented and maybe more of a gs comic than l&z will ever be :D
... i'll have a looksee...
Magellan ... super hero cadets - their worst enemy is themselves!
Loxie and Zoot ... cos nudists have adventures too y'know!

Not sure what the Graphic Smash is exactly, but if it's a subscription system the answer would be no.

I do have a second comic series planned. It will be a 3/week graphic novel drama comic not a weekly gag strip like my current one. In all likelyhood, as soon as I finish learning PHP and linux and get a good batch of strips pre-completed for my second comic I'll be leaving Keenspace to go independent. I'll host my current comic and the new comic on my own server and use the fame of my current comic to promote the new project with the eventual goal being my new work will at least equal my current work in popularity if not surpassing it.

After talking with a lot of industry people when I was a guest at I-con it seems the only way to generate any real respect in the comic industry as a webcomic is to be an independent and definetly not as a Keenspace or even spot artist.

No, it's just your bones getting bigger.

In other words, saying "Congratulations" and "Good luck" is unoriginal.

Actually, I try not to subscribe to that philosophy. There are too many breakable things around me to throw THAT many tantrums.
