Czechoslovakia.

This brings back horrible memories of all the history of the Third Reich that I did.

I've always seen this particular political cartoon as a good description of the The Nazi-Soviet Pact:

Looks pretty accurate.

I'd say that there's one good story that sort of illuminates the "feel" of the English government back then...you know, Churchill's infliuence?

He was giving the famous "We will fight them on the hills, we will fight them on the beaches, we will fight them on the plains..." ect. ect. (I forgot where he was giving the speach. )

When he was done, amid the thundering applause, he turned to an aide and said

"And we'll fight them with the butt-ends of broken beer bottles, because that's bloody well all we've got."

The only leader I've ever liked more than Churchill is Theodore Roosevelt. You can't go wrong with Teddy.

Has anyone ever seen that politcal cartoon with Stalin and Hitler where the caption reads "How long will the honeymoon last?" and Hitler's dressed like a groom and Stalin's wearing a dress? We love that one. :D

I guess I'd have to say I like Napoleon best, because I'm a direct blood relation, albeit six generations removed. Yes folks, I am a little bit over 1% napoleon.

I guess that's why I'm only 5' 9"

Well...apart from Hitler being the most evil man who ever lived, you gotta hand it to him - he had an unrealistic ability to get his will done, even when it should have been literally impossible...

In the year 2005, it will have been 60 years since Auschwitz was discovered and liberated. Maybe we should all make cartoons in memory of 12000000 murders and the best reason God ever had to give up the "humanity" project and start over with a new planet...

I dunno if it was the best reason... God had a chance to restart after the 7,800,000 murders of pagan-following english women in the 600-900ad timeframe.

Or the wholesale slaughter of Christians during the height of the Roman empire.

Or, of course, the fifty million or so who died overall during WWII.

I think the problem is, God is a typical user; lots of power, not much knowledge. Thus all the "mysterious ways" God works in - they aren't mysterious at all; he's just covering his butt.

Probably, God is still looking for the 'Any' key. Given four and a half billion years of history is compressed into seven days (creation of the earth), a few frustrating minutes looking for His user's manual aught to cover the entirety of human existance.

Hitler was childs play compared to Stalin, 61,911,000 people killed due to the communist party since 1917.

Not many have even heard of the 1930's Ukraine Holocaust responsible for a confirmed 7 million, possibly 9.

We don't comemorate those deaths.

Compared to the death toll in Europe between 1914 and 2000, the Spanish Inquisition seems a bit pathetic really.

They should have tried harder.

The Bubonic Plague? Please, AIDs has already overtaken this one, and looks set to continue strongly.

Really though, the escalating numbers of deaths from diseases is taken out of context unless you compare percents of the population taken down by the diseases. The increased death toll in war has been a recent development stemming from Napoleaons creation of "nationalism." He upped the ante, and other countries had to follow suit...

Originally the commander of an American Calvalry Unit, He helped define the role for tanks in American warfare. He read previous books on the subject by Rommel, as well as others. His own books are still valid and important reading for students of modern mechanized warfare.

Patton was truley great.

It is the common people who are stupid.
Wanting to fire him for slapping a soldier who deserved it...
Ridiculous. *shakes head*
As wrong as the Nazi cause was, sometimes I agree with them.
They, and their people, would never fire their best general for striking a coward; a coward is a danger to himself, and to his teammates.
I would've hit him in an instant; sniveling there in that hospital tent: surrounded by men braver than he and wounded from defending comrade and country.
Pathetic.

Suck it up soldier! You may not be a brave man, but you can sure as hell act like it! At least until you get out of earshot of the wounded brave!

Sorry, I get carried away.

No, a bunch of cousins fighting over stupid politics is what started WWI. That was probably among the top 3 stupidest wars ever fought... All the freaking leaders were related! Nothing resulted from it (other than tanks) and everybody (except for Germany) ended up back where they started.
