Am I the only one having trouble accessing Keenspace today? (8:30 am to 2:00 pm central time)

Uh....never mind. I just got a "FORBIDDEN" message when I tried to access the member page to upload. I'll keep trying...

Liza would like Keen to suck on this.

The strip is uploaded, and now it's up to Keen to update the site (we're in the queue....but for how long???). If the update process is as slow as the server seems to be, TS may be up by midnight. Stoopid Pig.

Basically, now I am getting a message that says: 'Keenspace is screwed up! We're moving it!'

If I win powerball Saturday night, I'll give you guys hosting money for somewhere else.

Heh, like I'm gonna win!

It's been my intention for a long time, that if I were to come into a big windfall like winning the powerball, I would set up a server, buy a T1 or T3, and offer a hosting service to all my favorite web comics. :)

Jobeth.net would be right at the top of that list... :)

Hey, Zodo, what about Snowflake Studios, or maybe The Hbomb Show? ;)

Ok, so I had to try, could you blame me?

Tonja Steele, along with my comic, has been lost to the vast darkness of the internet... :(

Joey, if you want a temporary site to show Tonja Steele, I was gonna run manual updates on Snowflake until AutoKeen starts working. I'd gladly help you out by running TS on SS, if you'd like.

Josh, if you were still doing The Nolans, the same offer would apply to you.

Oh, and Go Bucs!

Is it working yet?

Post by ZOMBIE USER 11786 »

Is it just me, or is it still not working. I keep getting an error that I can't access /

Sounds like a permissions issue to me. If Keen would like I can fix it for them. Hell at this point I won't even charge them my usual consulting fees.

BTW how much bandwith do you use per month? Per site (JoBeth, Tonja Steele, and Jackie's Fridge)?

Other hosting type questions.

Also how much HD space are you using, and what is your growth rate per month?

If you don't feel comfortable with posting this you can e-mail me @ ianshot at havencomm.com or ian at haven.citadel.org

What happened:

-Schlock (Space server) started melting. Almost literally.
-Admins started to try and make a backup.
-The latest and greatest Microsoft worm hit the net. Traffic spiked everywhere and the connection to the server was broken.
-The connection was re-established. Or rather, would've been re-established.
-The server was kaput by then.

So, about a 1000 (in 7300) comics didn't get backed up. By the looks of it, Tonja Steele's one of them. The bad news: Joey will have to re-upload all of it. The good news: Once she does, and hits the Full Update button, things should be working again.

The bad speculation: She may not have a local backup, meaning she'd have to scan all of those drawings anew. Possibly color them as well. Plus, if she DOES have a local copy, we're probably talking in the 40-80 Meg range worth of pictures here.

That really stinks.... Joey.... If you don't have a high speed connection, but do have backups, mail me a CD of them and tell me what to do to get you up and running again. Just an offer.

We do in fact have all the JoBeth.net comics on our local HD. We also have a dialup. Don't ask me how or why, but I did upload everything back in place on the TS account (it took a long time).

Hitting the update button is our sticking point: we don' t have access to the maintenance page. I left a "Help me" post on the Keen forum, so hopefully they'll tell me some good news. As for a permissions issue, I have no clue. Keen are very very hard to contact for some reason.

As for our bandwidth, I have no clue what we use. How do I find out? The images and stuff we have (not counting the pages generated by Keen's autoupdate) total about 132MB for all the sites (CB,TS,JF,JB,STF). Growth, I don't know. Each new strip is about 65kb, twice that for the Sunday style strips. We are starting to think seriously about what all would be involved in going independant, but both of us are more artsy types and not very technically savvy.

ATTENTION: Keenspace has notified me that I will be receiving a comically large check with many zeros attached to it, and it will arrive in my brand new 1968 Mustang convertible that they're giving me just because I'm such a dedicated and hard lil' worker. Ohyeah AND, The Rock will be driving the car to my house. Topless. Both him and the car. Excuse me...(laughs till side hurts and tears run). Aaaaanyway, yeah. Till I get paid like a guy who plays games for a living (or, paid at all), I ain't recoloring a THING, ya hear me?

I hate this. Wanna draw! Want my own $%&&! website back! I'll even give back the convertible!!!

Hmm...since you don't know the bandwith usage, and some providers tell you how much you are using, hmm.... how about a different track. How many hits do you get per day (average).

Part of the reason why I ask, is I run a small web hosting thing. I am colo'ed on a T1. I wasn't sure if you were happy, or unhappy with Keenspot/Keenspace. I don't host that many sites, and we are getting ready to update our server to a newer bigger better box. However my price is cheap, like free.

However right now, we are missing a few features that I think you would be looking for.

Let me know if you are intersted, if not, no worries. If so, we may need to talk.
