Cartoon movies?

n antoher thread it was mentioned that a "Garfield" live action movie is int the works.

I have to say it'll bomb.
Mainly because the guy we loved as Garfield, Lorenzo Music died.
Without that voice it won't work.

With cartoon/comic strips/comic books/toys live action movies, it can vary, a lot.

The "He-Man" movie is a hoot and a half, one of those corny movies we love to watch.

Spider-Man really took off.

But as was mentioned, "Rocky and Bullwinkle" tanked.

CG animated, a la Shrek and Toy Story. Classical animation for Tales of the Questor. Somehow I can't see UtLT on the big screen in any format.

Oh, and I think all three of Ralph's comics are best in comic format (although TotQ WOULD be kinda cool as an animated movie...).

Heh, TotQ as an animated film? I can just imagine some of the scenes:

Except there is a BIG problem with bringing ToTQ, Nip n' Tuck or UTLT to the big screen.

Ralph won't let them throw any stupid gratuitous sex and/or violence in the scripts.

And in Hollywood, either or both of those, (in addition to characters swearing enough to make a sailor blush,) are required.

Oh, ye of little faith. I'm not defending Hollywood, but as a film-student I can tell you those AREN'T requirements to make a movie.

As I recall, when they were releasing "Hunt for Red October", it was slowed up because they were trying to find a place to put some sex. Someone pointed out, "Uh, guys, this takes place mostly on an all-male submarine - do you really want to go there?"

I'm not looking forward to the Garfield movie, but I do think they could find a new voice for the orange furball. You guys are gonna hate me for saying so, but I think Ben Stein (from the game show of the same name) would be a perfect fit. His voice might be a little *too* dull for the role, but it's better than the much too optimistic voice Garfield had in those hotel ads. You could have sworn they spraypainted Nermal orange.
