public_html/images/jamieandnick-bigbanner.gif Doesn't exist on keenspace_schlock

Okay the reason THAT banner won't work is because it's not a standard size.

Banners can only be these sizes to work on the guide:
468x60 - large banner shown on pages
200x40 - medium banner shown on some other pages
88x31 - button banner, not used yet, but it will accept them.

However the problem was the error message was misleading. Other banners can technically be added, but they won't get used.

You can add more than one banner of any size, the html generator will pick one to use.

How do you delete a banner? You have to delete the physical file off the site or rename it.

The reason being that the dexchange scripts can no longer work in the new configuration since data files that they require no longer exist.

The new editor is a bit screwed up looking on account of it being designed to run from guide.keenspace.com and not siteadmintest.keenspace.com so it's pointing to the wrong place for css/images. It works though.

The problem was, after clicking "Edit guide info" option, he takes me to the form with comic name and password and then loads the same form again and again no matter how much time I enter the data. It does that in siteadmintest.keenspace.com too.

The authentication mechanism uses cookies. If you don't have your browser cookies enabled, or are running one of those damned "privacy" softwares that delete all cookies... etc

If you have ZoneAlarm, you best uninstall it before it takes your system down. ^^; *watched system resources drain away rapidly with ZA*

And please.... no bitching about "but if I enable cookies, you might track me" , THAT'S THE POINT. The cookie stores a session ID timeout, after a few minutes it times out.

I put

public_html/images/banner01.gif

and it still does not work. Grrr ... my head hurts.

People People,

I really must change the code so it says exactly what should be entered in that box.

You MUST have a lead slash, and the file MUST exist in your comic account directory

/public_html/images/whateverbanner.gif
/public_html/banners/coolchick2.jpg
or whatever. It is case sensitive, and the lead slash must exist.

If your comic doesn't show up at all in the guide... what did you call it? The alphabetization scheme is a bit on the dumb side.

There are TWO alphabetical lists, take note

One list is a list of ALL comics, regardless of how old they are or how many comics they have. The other one shows only comics with >1 comics AND updated in the last 90 days. (Well not too sure about the 90 day thing as info didn't get updated for 45 days before it started to work again.)

The PL lists are Pages Loaded (Not PopuLarity) and are based on a fraction of all pages loaded from the server. The only day it's wonky is the 1st of every month because it only has the stats for two hours when it starts.

Cookies enabled. "Privacy" softvares: not that I know about. There is only this anti-pop-up program that literally instaled itself, but I keep it turned off all the time anyway.

Sorry for being such a pain in the ass about the guide, but it seems that the banner thing still doesn't work for me (neither does the comic description). I've taken the liberty of taking screen shots so that you can see exactly what I'm doing.

It uh ... still doesn't seem to work. Well, it works a lot better now in the sense that it recognizes my banner, but it still won't appear on guide.keenspace.com. Again, here are some screenshots (since I'm quite bad at explaining things).

The guide isn't live at updates, wait an hour and see if it shows up. With the exception of something else that's not directly related to this, the guide will update every hour. Only if the drive runs out of space will it stop working.

If you are running mozilla, get the latest version. They fixed a cookie handling thing that I threw at them... like months ago.
