Here's a preview of tomorrow's EOI. It took me about as long as some of the longer strips I was doing with CTRL+V anyways...
I'm really wavering on trying to commit to drawing them all or sticking with the C&P. Part of me thinks it would look better if I just started drawing them, part of me still wants to stick to the same pictures over and over to make the characters look a little sillier and less realisitc because of the whole chatroom setting. Plus, sometimes I don't redraw the characters as well as their original pic that I've used for months. What d'ya guys think?
That's what I've been trying to go for with all the heavy editing on the original pics, but that's also what's making it a chore to do. Bleh. If only everything I wanted to do required no effort or investment!
Yeah as much as I like what you've done with this strip, I'd have to say stick with the copy+paste system. It's part of the EOI style. 8) This particular strip might not have worked as well in the regular form though. I dunno, it's up to you where you draw the line.
And whether or not you copy and paste it and change it here and there O_o or just keep drawing more lines.... Drawing lines is fun. I've got a big bowl of black-rasberry JELL-O.
Ok I've completely forgotten what I was talking about.. Arg... Might as well just "Submit' now.
I say stick with hand-drawing! It rocks! It allows you to make your characters so much more expressive, and you can do things like sight gags and complex actions that are impossible with cut n paste.
Also, I just thought I'd mention that this is your funniest strip ever. Heheheheh!

i think that either way you go, you've got a win situation. while the cut & paste does show more of a chatroom type of feel, it might drive off readers who don't actually get past the fact that it is cut & paste. also, I heartily agree that the non-C&P strip there shows a lot more expression and is easier to see what the character's emotions are, and i just like it more
I think it MIGHT work if you just add a few new poses, but I agree with of the people here, the C&P style really REALLY works for your comic because of the chatroom setting. As good as drawing it looks, it just doesn't have the feel of "this is artificial" that the cut and paste has. I would stick with that. It's the only situation where cut and paste really works, but in that situation, there's nothing that works better.
EOI cries for cut & paste because these aren't real people. They're facades behind which there are people. So, IMHO, they shouldn't behave in animated fashion. Just as ya'll use your forum posts to reflect your emotion, not change your avatars to do so.
Har! This is only my second post on these forums which indicates how adamant I feel about this particular subject.
Well I say hand drawn always adds more to a comic, and you've obviously got the skills for it, why let that talent go to waste? And I should also add that your latest one rocks.
I dig it lots! And if there's any problem with it not feeling like a chatroom with hand drawn art instead of cut&paste, just view it as their "minds-eye" for what they think is happening.
I like the idea of several poses and cut and paste them.
Also, I'm using a school computer and the 800x600 res on it made it really hard to read this topic. Just thought I'd say that.
GAH! I am torn by this issue. The drawn comic is good, really good, but it looked like fanart to me. EOI needs to be cut 'n paste, 'casue that's what it's all about. But the posing was sooo good int he drawn comic....gah!
Something is currently <a href= "http://polygonreports.keenspace.com">HERE</a>.
I think EOI should stay cut and paste because it <i>definately</i> drives home the fact that it's a chatroom. You should stick with what drives the comic, ya know? Plus, changing style in the middle is kinda wierd. Besides, you do handdrawn stuff for "The Paths End" anyway, so I say definately stick with the Ctrl+V! ^_^
However, if the need to hand draw EOI <i>really</i> strikes you, you could do an "alternate" strip. (<a href="http://www.unicornjelly.com">Unicorn Jelly</a> does exactly this when it's artist can't decide if she likes one idea better than another) Granted it would take more time, but you only had to do it when you felt like it, and it would be a nifty omake type thing to come across. (I like tons of extras for a website!)

C'mon, it's obvious you want him spending as little time in front of the comp as possible
