On the Topic of Self-Promotion...
How long's the best time to wait before really going out there and plugging yourself? A week? Two weeks

Do it when you feel you're ready. That's probably the best I can give you, though I would suggest at least having a decent archive for people to read.
I dunno when I'm gonna start. I think I should at least get a decent string of updates first.

Yeah. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who post a plug that goes like: "My comic starts next year! Everybody count down the days with me! It will change your life, I swear!" and then they put out some crappy comic that looks as if it were done by a retarded ape.
Definitely wait until you get some strips in your archive before you plug. And never, EVER let retarded apes draw your comic for you.

You know what they say...give a hundred apes a hundred sets of pencils, ink, and paper, and they'll draw Shakespeare. Or something.sidwood wrote:And never, EVER let retarded apes draw your comic for you.

Eh...
Gee, I have no clue. I say just tell some people that you have a comic and hope they read it everytime you update. I've only posted about 6 or 7 comics, and I have about 14-17 readers. What I'm saying, though, is don't go on every single board and plug your site. That's annoying. Try getting your friends to tell friends, and so on.
But, I dunno.
I'm just blabbing mindlessly. ::dances off stage::

Well, of course. I know well enough to not go on ever board on a single forum and do that. That's no better than spam.THECapedCaper wrote:Eh...

Actually, he's right. Most message boards have overpompous people who don't let in the "newbies". People on message boards with 2000 posts, most of the time, just say "WAHT AER YOU DIONG YUO N00B!!!???1//1" and want you to get out. I was actually surprised (and Bean was surprised, too) when people here were nice to us when we first posted... 2 weeks ago.

It depends largely upon the type of community that occupies the board. I've never really participated on a board where newcomers were treated badly or severely looked down upon (unless they did something really stupid repeatedly), although I've heard of that before.McBean wrote:Ha, Other Boards? With this and maybe a few others, Message Boards are silly rotten disturbing places.
Right now, the only other forum I participate in is the Family Guy forum at Damnyouall.net. People are quite friendly there.
