I almost feel sorry for the hater bear. Almost. He had nothing to do with Borzoi's group going down and causing some trouble at the mission. He *is* on the anti-human side, but where he's mostly talk, Borzoi acts.

So he's not *quite* deserving of that reputation...but I don't quite feel sorry for him.

Does Terrie Smith know you're borrowing that bear chick for panel two, Al?

You know, it looks like the little bear might just be having second thoughts about his recent actions. Personally, I hope that maybe...just maybe...he will realize that he's made a big mistake. Perhaps that cute little ursine lady will be just the catalyst for him to reform a bit. Oh, sure, he probably will still be a bit of a loudmouth, but we have already seen that the love of a good woman can change a man (or, in this example, a roo.)

If only our little bear would quit being caught up in what he's fighting ABOUT, and start thinking about what exactly what it is he is fighting FOR.

Perhaps then, he could see what he and others do for what they really are?

She does look a little Smith-esque, doesn't she? Cute, one way or another.

Our ursine friend here has been letting his mouth override his brain for quite a while; it's probably going to take something drastic to get him to change his mind...

Hopefully, it won't mean more jail time for him...or worse.

Today's strip does point out a problem - the "furry v human" situation is going to create a "furry v furry" issue as well. I'm sure there are furries who are willing to tolerate sharing this world with humans, if not necessarily being friends with them. (That sort of distraction might just be what Avariss and company wants, which makes me wonder if he may be clandestinely bankrolling some of this...)

Carl, if that's the case, then when the Human Haters find out that a Human is funding them, and especially WHICH Human it is...

No, Gene wouldn't do something like that. That's to 1980s, even for an old tomcat like Gene.

Isn't that odd, though! That little lady bear
judging the loudmouth ursine simply
because he belonged to an anti-human group,
not because she knew he'd been involved in
what happened at the church mission! Wasn't
that an undeserving injury to his lunchtime
mood! Why, everyone should be judged by who
they are, on their individual merits
and actions alone, not by something that
someone else might have done, or the way some
of the others who are like you in some ways
might be different in others! I mean, for her
to treat every single anti-human furry the
same, would be like treating every... umm..
no, wait, that's not it... Ah! Here's what
should work: it's okay to regard every human
as the same, but not okay to regard every
anti-human furry as the same.

Right? O_o

Hey, back in '96, Terrie used part of an idea
I had for something she drew in a commission-
she even thanked me for it later! I wasn't
really going by anything she specifically drew,
though at second glance she could resemble a
Terrie Smith image a little bit. But if so,
then we're even. >=)

It might be the point at which the reasons
(or, perhaps it would be better said, all
the reasons, maybe even a few that the loud
ursine himself may not have thought out
completely) for his actions come under close
scrutiny. Maybe he blames humanity for things
he hasn't really understood in the first
place? Won't be the first time that hatred
has taken root for such reasons.

Perhaps he should start thinking...
that is, the genuine article, instead of the
emoting-masquerading-as-thinking that so often
passes for the the genuine article.

I will say only this: the way in which Avariss
benefits from this hasn't been directly due to
financial input on his part. That's as far as
I'll venture on that score.

Hey, believe it... that's caused more
than one person to do some SERIOUS soul-
searching! Particularly if the one who gave
that cold shoulder was especially appealing...
and the one on the receiving end was especially
plagued by insecurity and a lack of self-
worth...

I can believe that! ive seen some people completely try and change themselves, just to try and make others that they like-like them more. Everything from the way they dress, to how they talk, to even try and change their beliefs.. (shows how shallow some are!)

yay! i'm a Lieutenant now! (yes, i had to copy paste that to spell it };=8P)

Perhaps one thing the loudmouth bear will note are parallels with how the girl looked at him and how he looks at humans. How he judges all humans by the way some act has come back to haunt him. Even though he wasn't in the group that harassed the kitchen, he's being judged by what they did.

Delightfully ironic if you ask me...

I hope that Borzoi's boys don't try to threaten Lloyd and Alice nor the little kids ... he don't need to go THAT far...
because that would be taking it way TOO far.

Where's Ted and the Furriston police when you need them?!
