True Story:

Frank here *waves at Damonk* and I were talking on the phone. He had been up since 8 AM, and it was appraching 4 AM the next day when we were about (aboot?) ready to end our conversation...

So he's pretty loopy, and I'm <i>always</i> loopy (ask anyone!) But, you know, being sick and nightquil don't help da' sichie-ashun any, ya' know? *sniff*

ANyhoo, this was about what our <b>real</b> conversation consisted of:

Me: So you're going to bed soon, huh?

Frank: Yeah, I'm going to go hit the ever important pillows.

Me: Of Antioc?

Frank:...what?

Me: Well, my friends Wood and Matt (Wood will be at con this year) came up with this thing to attack Tolkin; you know whenever J.R.R. Tolkin wanted to make something sound more important than it was he'd add an 'of blah blah blah' to it...The Sword of 'blah', the Stone of 'blah' you know...

Frank: *is cracking up*

Me: Yeah, well they added this to their daily lives..."We're going to the Jack-In-The Box <i>of Antioc</i>", "Get that book <i>of Antioc</i> for me"... you know...stuff...

Frank: So I'm going to hit the pillows of Antioc?

Me: And sleep the sleep of Antioc.

Frank: And dream dreams of Antioc?

Me: For you are Damonk of Antioc.

Frank: Go Antioc.

Both: *Cracks up*

*ahem* Anyhoo, I'd thought I'd share...it was way funnier on the phone...

Yeah.. i think it is from the holy grail.

and besides, Tolkein doesn't really do that, anyway, least of all in his stories (in his histories, sure, but it's history). Not often enough to put him on "let's make it sound more impressive THIS way" with actual fables and stuff. ^^;; Like the Mabignogion and King Authur legends. Especially the king authur stuff because all of a sudden christianity enters into it.

I'd just like to say that The Quest for the Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies EVER! Let's hear it for British comedy! yes... that was my two cents on the matter...
And since I'm here, I'd just like to say that Damonk, your comic is hilarious. And being a fellow Canadian, you rock even more! ^_^ Just thought I'd let you know...

Yup. Syria. A favorite of the Crusaders, back in the 10th & 11th Centuries.

Yeah, and at the tiome that that Paul guy was travelling around the middle-east, he visited not one, but TWO Antiochs, Syrian Antioch and the other one (of which I can't remember the epithet)...

Go figure -- Antiochs everywhere, and everywhere an Antioch.

This is verbatim from the Dogma screenplay--After Rufus told Bethany, Jay, and Silent Bob about Jesus being black.

JAY: I don't buy it.

RUFUS: That's what the good people of Antioch were saying right before they stoned my ass.

BETHANY: You were martyred?

RUFUS: That's one way of putting it. Another way is to say I was bludgeoned to shit by big fucking rocks. Our job was to go out and spread Christ's word. I got Antioch, which was cool for awhile, because I was a big hit--they loved hearing Jesus' message. But then I mentioned HE was black, the whole town turned on me. Called me a blashpemer. I pressed the point, and before I know it, I'm playing dodgeball...or dodge-rock.

In conclusion, glych is a klanswoman.
