Like I said...the reason children are cute is so we don't kill them. And I know that if any of my numerous collections were being strewn about recklessly, someone would have to die. Well...not die, of course...but still...maybe slightly injured....------------------

Poor Lyle, he's going to lose his marbles over this. Wait, he's already lost them, the kids got those earlier today. Hmmm, I get the feeling he's going to be dumping those kids on the next gullible person, and I get the funniest feeling about this.

I miss my LPs. I had a collection of old Iron Maiden records at my moms house, and I musta kept them too close to the stereo. When we went to pack them when I moved, they had all melted. =O_o=Lyle needs t' show theese kids what this music is all about. Or get someone who ccan handle theese children. I just noticed that they trashed a Frank Zappa album. It is now clear to me that these children do not, nor will they ever, have any redeeming characterisitcs. Best for Lyle to cleanse the gene pool now.------------------

No way! How many Iron Maiden records was it that melted? Good thing I got them on cd. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> I know LPs have some genuine feel to them, but I have to admit, cds are just so much more portable and are so much easier to take care of. I did buy a used Rush LP for $6.00 mostly because it had a cool little poster in there. Oh, that would be Piece of Mind. The guy who illustrated the covers for Iron Maiden was Derek Riggs. Pretty detailed guy, huh?-Dutch

I also like the cover artist Hugh Syme, who did the album covers for Rush's Fly By Night and Caress of Steel. You should check his stuff out. Very nice, detailed stuff.-Dutch

I think Hugh did all of the Rush cover art except for the first album.
Any idea when we'll get to see a new album bearing his signature style ? I've heard rumors since "Different Stages" came out but it's all talk. Even though I'm not crazy about the newer material they've done I'd love to see them live again, it's been too long.Smiling with the mouth of the ocean,

Ah, personally, I didn't care for it too much. It was kinda boring, but maybe I just needed to give it a few more chances. And also, I miss Rush's old style where they were doing side-long songs and had extremely hard-hitting sounds along with Geddy's high vocals. I know it's good to move on, but I thought their best stuff came out of the 70's myself.-Dutch

Yeah, I'm really interested in hearing some of Claypool's independent music. Can you get Frog Brigade on cd now?As for Rush, I'd say Farewell and Hemisphere are probably my faves. Okay, since you're like me and have to have everything a band you enjoy comes out with, I probably shouldn't tell you about this awesome group I just got into called Clutch. If you want good, hard-hitting guitar music and well-written lyrics Clutch is definitely one to check out.-Dutch

I guess I just really missed hearing Alex's guitar work and "Victor" filled that void nicely at the time.
Is it me or does it seem like his solos never get further than 12 bars before Geddy reigns him back on all of the 90's era Rush ?I'd have to say my favourites are Farewell/Hemispheres era, they still had a raw element, but I liked the introduction of keyboards and it wasn't too polished yet.
Ever heard the early covers " Bad Boy / Not Fade Away " ?
I collect music so once I get into a band I have to own EVERYTHING, I'm just glad I never really got into collecting comic books or I'd be broke. *snicker*Next band topic is Zappa... I mean Primus... no it's Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade doing King Crimson/Floyd covers....Farx

Wow, you actually got to meet a new favorite band. You lucky bastid! I don't see too many shows, even though Austin is considered the live music capital of the world. I did however, see Clutch soon after I got into them. My friend and I were a little late getting there, but they were singing one of my favorite titles of as we walked in, which was called Dragonfly. Great song! Love the lyrics. I've not figured out what they're singing about yet (other than bugs), but it's fun anyway.-Dutch (ANd thanks for the Primus links! I wanna see them before I die.)
