Hi everybody! It's been...*checks notes, realizes they're all blank* a long time. I've been a pretty terrible member of this community, as I haven't checked these forums in what has certainly been years, and a lot has happened in my life and in Steel Salvation, but I'm still plugging away at it and I got the sudden urge to report back to the people who helped get me started.
As life has gotten more complex, my comic duties have increased, but that hasn't stopped me. I started Steel Salvation with three friends, one for the art, one for the lettering and web stuff, and one for promotion, while I just wrote the scripts. Gradually, those friends have quit the project, and I've taken up pretty much every one of their duties. Most recently, I've learned how to do the lettering and basic html coding. About the only thing I don't do is the final artwork because...that would be bad. It was scary at first, but now I feel like the comic creation process is more rewarding than ever. It helps that the story has finally hit what I considered to be the meat of the plot. As those of you who remember Steel Salvation know, I had never written a comic before, and my concept of pacing a comic story was hilariously skewed. It took years to finish what I considered to be the prologue to the main story, but now we're here. If you liked it before, take a look and see how far it's come!
Ultimately, it just makes me happy to see that at least most, if not all, of the people I knew before are still around. I was afraid when I clicked ye olde Comic Genesis bookmark, the link would be broken, but you folks just don't quit, and I love that.

I'm taking another brief hiatus from my comic for the time being, but I've been drawing fairly regularly for the past couple of decades. Somehow my story just couldn't keep up with the calendar. Cortland has become Out at Five but now contains more Cortland than before.
When's the next cookout?
This cookout should be a thing.
