FTP/Siteadmin back up.
Folks,
Kisai and I are working to clean up a server meltdown that may require us to move everything to a new server. We're investigating a hardware failure and some issues with software upgrades.
Meanwhile, I was able to get the database talking again to FTP and Siteadmin, so you should be able to log in now and update everything. This also means I gotta update my webcomic... ugh... if I can free up more time!

I''m glad to hear you're working on the problem, but as of 9:00 PM PST 6/11 the update queue at siteadmin.comicgenesis.com is still frozen at 26.

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
Holy macanoli, that sounds serious. Thank you for keeping the site running through this.
Anyway, things look to be almost back to normal now. My comic updated. The forums were down for a while this morning, but they're back up. The only sign left of anything being wrong is that the updater still shows a queue of 29 -- but since my comic did update, that queue number may not be accurate.
Thanks!

Mine squared away too. Hears hoping you get the troubles worked out. (updating and changing tech and such is such a pill sometimes, we can dig it)

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
Strange, as of last night, my comic still hadn't updated, but I uploaded a new comic anyway, assuming once things sorted out, they would both get added.. but only the first has, yesterday's comic still hasn't appeared. I've asked siteadmin for another update, but it's still taking a lot longer than usual

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
I'm looking into this. I think, but I can't be sure as to why it's not working as expected. The actual FTP itself is working fine, just the net2ftp application appears to be doing something unexpected.
A word to the wise... do not use a third party website to connect to your FTP. Every year 10 or so accounts are deleted due to to abuse reports that originate from the user's FTP being compromised and being used to upload malware or pose as sites like banks or fake pharmacies and such. Over the last three weeks, the virus scanner has removed roughly 300 compromised files belonging to 32 accounts that were infected with malware/viruses/drive-by-downloaders,etc.
You can download the attached filezilla.xml (inside the zip file) to get the default settings for comicgenesis, just remember to change the username and password.

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
I've only just begun getting an error 500 when i use either siteadmin or the siteadmin net2ftp to upload.. but going directly to net2ftp's site works.. but it's much slower.

That's because it's relaying between a third party and here.ColdFusion wrote:I've only just begun getting an error 500 when i use either siteadmin or the siteadmin net2ftp to upload.. but going directly to net2ftp's site works.. but it's much slower.
I'm not getting the 500 error, so someone who is getting this error needs to tell me when (timestamp) so I can isolate it in the log files.
Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
I just tried 6/18/2014 @ 10:17 am PST and no luck. 500 error.Kisai wrote:I'm not getting the 500 error, so someone who is getting this error needs to tell me when (timestamp) so I can isolate it in the log files.
.edit: (11:15) I just tried the FTP/Filezilla update approach and that did work. Thank goodness for my Ubuntu machine! ^_^;

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
I just had the same 500 error happen to me, several times, around 10:45 PM eastern. It accepted my .txt file for comments, but not the jpg comic page.
My usual FileZilla process is also not working because it says I have more than 2 connections as the same user, and it can't accept that.
Edit: when going into FileZilla again and uploading to allroses.comicgen.com instead of comicgenesis it worked fine first time.

So.. I don't understand why we had people helping earlier but now they've disappeared. Siteadmin still doesn't work, still getting the 500 error

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
If I login to either https://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/ or http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/net2ftp/index.php and try to upload a comic, I get the 500 error.
Right now the only thing working is logging in at http://net2ftp.com/
which is fine I guess, but it takes longer. it's slower than the siteadmin net2ftp and much slower than using siteadmin

Re: FTP/Siteadmin back up.
Just for the record, siteadmin isn't working for comic upload for me either. As noted in my previous post. I do the FTP upload and then siteadmin to do a regular update.Kisai wrote: Works for me, what are you doing?
